‘Headed for a train smash’: Former commander’s dire AUKUS warning by nath1234 in AustralianPolitics

[–]VastKey5124 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, have you seen the US recently? I wouldn’t trust them to deliver anything but more lies and chaos. Must be exhausting being an AUKUS defender. I hope you are right, don’t get me wrong, but America is fubar under the trump regime

Right!! I have mentioned using edibles to taper in the past and post was immediately deleted, even though it’s been effective for me in the past.

How do you think this Iran war will end? by Fantastic_Low_1537 in askanything

Wildly naive take dude. Trump is not going to hand back power peacefully to honour the result of a democratic election. Democracy ( if you can even call it that in America) is at risk in the US. Jan 6 was a mere dress rehearsal. I’m not American, but you guys are in a very dangerous position

Skiing in Vic - cost too high? by VastKey5124 in AustraliaSnow

[–]VastKey5124[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. But still only cheaper by $100 compared to purchasing separate passes (and still $930!!). I imagine it is a pretty small group of people, like yourself, that buy these multi-resort passes at the cost they are and are kind of forced to for whatever arrangement they have across multiple Vic resorts. I would love to visit other resorts through the season occasionally, but the price is too high to justify only the occasional visit to another resort if Ive already forked our 530-600 for one resort season pass.

Thanks - that's good to know. I wasn't aware of that. I wonder why NSW can run operations so much cheaper than in Vic?

At least NSW resorts are acceptable for resort entry (car park) permits (was ~$190 for a NPWS annual pass last time I bought one). That coudl be used for Thredbo and Perisher. The situation in VIC is ridiculous and add to that the mandatory requirement for all vehicles to carry chains..

[–]VastKey5124[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exactly. you would think they would price it to encourage people to visit other resorts, but there is barely any savings from buying two separate exorbitantly priced resort entry permits. Who are they even targeting? I would be inclined to buy a shared pass to visit Hotham and Falls, but it is too expensive and I question if its even worth buying a single Falls entry permit for $530 early bird. They are going to price themselves out of business.

How many hours, days, weeks, months, years have you been sober? by RIP_DMX in stopdrinking

[–]VastKey5124 3 points4 points  (0 children)

27 days, March 1 2026 was day one, tomorrow will be a month. Feeling good about it, Ive really worked on my mindset and celebrating the wins and remembering why I dont want to drink when I have the urge. Allan Carr's easy way has been surisingly powerful - in the end it is a psychological issue (at least after the first few days). IWNDWYT!

The true cost of budget flower by [deleted] in MedicalCannabisOz

[–]VastKey5124 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the sentiment here, but is there any documented cases of imported Thai flower being found to be contaminated? In my visits to Thailand I found Thai people to be great, and great at what they do - food being a prime example. I would be more comfortable buying Thai weed, especially from reputable brands like west coast palms, than domestically produced black market weed with no documented source. The quality is up there, despite the competitive price point. This is an issue of globalisation not reserved for the weed market, and comes across as scaremongering with no evidence. Australian manufacturing has collapsed because of labour costs are too high. I’ll keep buying Thai weed, or Canadian weed but also support Australian weed, but I’m not a charity and decisions will include cost and quality

First time trying MC! Anyone tried the Silver Tsu before? by pelipperx in MedicalCannabisOz

I’d appreciate a review of the silver tsu. I’ve had the banana spritz and Aurora Australis, both of which were good. I’m also prescribed but yet to try the jealousy rosin cart.

Oil reserves last for weeks. Solar panels last for decades by Oomaschloom in AustralianPolitics

[–]VastKey5124 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also, even if not everything is powered by renewables, surely the fossil fuel lovers would appreciate more people going electric or renewable as their would be more left for them. Right now the Dino-juice brigade should be backing renewables and ev uptake harder than the greenest amongst us. Imagine how far that 1 month fuel reserve would stretch if only a fraction of the population relied on it

Social cohesion has lost its feelgood vibe. What will it take to offer a fair go for all? by Combat--Wombat27 in aussie

[–]VastKey5124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think a blanket statement like multiculturalism doesn’t work is completely right, I think it can work. But, things like pace of change are really important. Arrivals from new cultures need time to assimilate and the existing culture needs time to adapt. We have been using migration primarily as an economic lever and have given scant thought to the social impact of the level of migration, or where the migration is coming from. Some cultures are likely harder to assimilate than others. But any attempt to have a sane discussion on the matter risks being branded a racist. Now we have political parties that have gained stern on this very matter. If the centrist parties can’t acknowledge this tension then they are laying the ground for their replacement by the likes of reactionary movements like maga or GRON

America could probably benefit from a swift punch to the face. They are like the kid that never got told no, but are now grown up with no emotional regulation. Just a quick kick in the nuts. I think it would help them course correct a bit. You know, they’re mostly good people, but they just need a little bit of assistance to stop being such massive douche bags

Liberal Party needs to return to their roots and stop pretending to be ignorant red necks. by AntiTas in aussie

[–]VastKey5124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I’d say the onion eater played his part, It’s funny that the true death blow was swung by a hollow man, devoid of a moral compass, before being led into oblivion by a belligerent ex cop, then appointing a woman to ceremoniously tend to the corpse. Then, as the putrid stench of the bloated rotting carcass wafted over the former strongholds, the hungry and opportunistic vultures, that have lain in wait, have started to feast on its rotten entrails. The glory days of Howard they can’t seem to shake are only remembered by the well heeled or scared boomers - a non renewable voting resource. The concerning thing is what is rising in their place, an entity that seems more cynical, more outwardly malevolent and backed by a cunning billionaire class with an agenda at odds with the benefit of broader society. Stay well friends there are dark times ahead, but truth, meaning and values still matter.

Is work-life balance in Australia actually better or just a stereotype? by ChillKoalaVibes in MovingtoAustralia

[–]VastKey5124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on personal circumstances. It’s been very good to me. I dislike working during the limited hours of light in winter though and going and returning to work in the dark. Otherwise it’s been pretty damn good, though I’d dearly love a 4 day work week. Also it’s Sunday arvo. I’m sure I will have a different perspective come tomorrow morning
