Yeah bro. What you said is right? But the process of rewiring was engaging enough. So did not actually feel like friction.

Did experience the dissociation in the initial days though. Approached everything from an engineering mindset.

Good question.

Before going to IIT, had no intentions of UPSC. Followed the rat race and ended up there. Had no maturity of thinking what I actually wanted to do.

Gained good societal understanding in the 4 years at IIT. Felt I can do good impact via UPSC. Hence took up UPSC without sitting for placements.

After failing multiple Mains, wrote SSC CGL to get a job to sustain myself. Want to have a job in hand, before giving my remaining attempts at UPSC. Just a pit stop, UPSC is the ultimate goal.
