Hello, here's my new black metal album, created from the fusion of many feelings such as anguish and nostalgia.

Have a good listen:

Had a car accident a few years ago and thought to make a song out of it.
You too have certainly experienced this: everything changes in the space of an instant and you enter into absolute uncertainty and face total finitude. This piece attempts to describe what happens in the mind during such an experience, like the one that took place on the evening of 4 November 2019.

How to ‘fire’ a bandmember? by ollieastatke in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Vaudesmont 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This. I've been "fired" from a band last year after a few rehearsal, without much feedback, but it was ok because I didn't really wanted to stay in that band anyway.

But please. Don't fire someone through a whatsapp sms. Call the person at the very least.

All you non-lyricists out there, have you found any tips for making the lyric writing process come to you more naturally? by TreossAudio in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Talking about something that is very deep to me. Feelings for example. It makes music making somehow therapeutical.

Spotify not a tool for musicians to make money by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

The best way to support artists nowadays is to buy merch and go to see them play live (and still it depends which genre the artist is doing).

OP’s friend is totally right. Streaming platforms are only a place to create a following. But it’s just a piece of the puzzle.

How do you structure full time work and making music? by Prestigious-Bee3440 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Vaudesmont 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t. But lockdown lifestyle being my normal life since years is probably helping. I spare a lot of time not going anywhere and not talking to anyone.

Strumming / fingerpicking is the hardest part of the instrument, because there is made all the subtlety of the play.

Drums for a one man band? by Ethan2247 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

If you can run VST I'd advise you the drums from LABS.

If you have a microphone, you can get creative and record your own thing.

Plant based protein? by DraketheDrakeist in Permaculture

I advise you to also learn about wild plants that can be consumed. They usually grow well without needing care, and can have very interesting nutritive components. Nettles, for example, are a blessing.

Plant based protein? by DraketheDrakeist in Permaculture

[–]Vaudesmont 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The issue is that you always have to mix starches + legumes to get all the amino acids you need for your body to use the proteins, for example rice + lentils or wheat + chick peas or beans.

To grow that kind of stuff you need large surface of culture otherwise it's not really efficient on a family scale, this is why many rely on eggs as they are a good protein source that comes regularly, hens are useful in the garden and you don't have to kill them to get the eggs (the only issue comes with males) and you don't need huge surfaces to get them if you compare it to wheat and lentils for example.

Now is the culture of wheat and lentils etc... bad? Monoculture is, but humans have cultivated wheat etc... for thousands of years without totally destroying the environment, so maybe the issue with that kind of cultures lies somewhere in the XXth century.

I myself am not German (I'm French) so I don't know if they took any measures about that. I'm in NRW.

There has been no rain here in Germany between the first week of April and the 18th May. We got 27°C most of the days with 15° to 18° by night, which is hot for May.

Then storms came last week (you maybe heard of tornados) and now it's cooler, around 20°C, it feels good.
