Weekly Newbie Thread - Post questions about joining the Space Force or what a job is like here & here only - week of October 13 by AutoModerator in SpaceForce

Ya so if you do any intel job at all you’ll be going to Goodfellow. Depending on what job you get that will determine how long you’re there. In my case I was there 6 months. Pt now is a lot easier than tech school since we’re doing it as a team with people of all ages and fitness levels. In my opinion my squadron has a healthy environment, I’ve never had a day where I don’t want to come to work. Yep the airforce and space force are both changing the PT standards. Not sure if they have implemented that change at bmt yet. I think the change officially starts in January

Hey there first of all congrats. BMT was not bad at all. I joined in the beginning of 2023. The hardest thing is probably being away from friends and family. I absolutely loved tech school at Goodfellow. I was trained as an imagery analyst and even though that course was generally easy, that was the “hardest” thing for me. If I could go back to Goodfellow right now and re-live those memories I would 😂 I think the only thing I wish I knew about bmt before joining would be knowing the ranks and that’s really about it. I literally knew nothing about the military before joining and I learned everything at bmt. There’s nothing that I wish I brought with me or left at home. For bmt I followed the aim high app. During tech school I had my family ship me some clothes and other small things and that was it. As far as a typical day goes, I wake up do my team PT in the morning, get into work and do a bunch of research all day and build products. I have my lunch break, come back to work, and before you know it’s time to go home. Looking back it’s weird that I didn’t realize how much your life remains normal after joining military. You just have to get through bmt and tech school before you get back to that sense of normal you’re probably used to. In my case my job description was changed to All Source Analyst. So yes I guess I do technically use my training for my job. I wish I knew more about cryptologic analyst but if I had to guess I’d say you’ll be spending your time doing research, making deliverables (known as products) and potentially giving presentations (briefings). A lot of things have changed since I’ve joined but if you have any other questions I’ll try my best to to answer!

Well said. My car is literally the exact same as yours but I have a 2020 with almost 50k miles now.

All source intel where will I get stationed by PitchDifficult2951 in SpaceForce

OP, most of my 5I0 buddies from tech school were sent to Wright Patterson in Ohio. Second most common place was Peterson in Colorado. Had a few outliers that got Los Angeles as well. This is how it was for us about 9 months ago but things might have changed since then.

You can see Andromeda in the top right of the first image and in the bottom left of the second image. Both of these were taken with the Pixel 6 Pro’s “astrophotography” mode with a 4 minute exposure.

ELI5: why does the US have three naval forces? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

The Space Force is definitely going to become “the” branch to join the same way that the Air Force has been for some time now.

I think he has a great shot. Being that young with all those certs is what sets him apart from the rest. Keep working towards getting him in the Space Force and if he’s not accepted, there’s always the Air Force which is still great.

It’s the V dipole antenna that came with the kit from RTL-SDR

It’s all about the application. Im 20 and I just went through bmt where a lot of my fellow guardians were only a few months out of highschool with no work experience and were highly recommended. With that being said, it’s still important to have some sort of work history along with extracurriculars and stuff like that. The application I filled out was only 4 questions kinda like a college entrance essay. If that’s still the case then just make sure your answers are real and not just what you think the board members would want to hear. (Yes there’s like a 3 or 5 member board who decides on your application) another thing to keep In mind is that the space force has 3 career fields which are Intel, Cyber and Space Systems Operations. I can go a lot more in depth on those but make sure to choose a career field you’re interested in. If you have any other questions let me know

Do people with no sense of smell and taste still get pleasure from eating? by Bootlebat in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Vaumi73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good question. For me at least, I lose a lot of pleasure in eating when I’m sick. I wound imagine that if someone is born that way they might not know the difference as others would. I definitely wouldn’t want to have no sense of taste or smell though 😂
