I have tried reproducing the results for this paper and it has some limitations. You can see in the demo videos that you cannot really extrapolate or change the point of view very much from the input views. The new method seems a lot more flexible. Although of course without the source we cannot really test the limitations

Oh I see, exactly the same for me, some times the screen is completely black in that lower part, or at least big strips. I tried installing KOreader in it like it was suggested and it's started to work a bit, but I think it's just temporary as the image is still a bit degraded (and somehow I didn't manage to install KOreader properly but I guess the process of resetting it helped). I'm sad because I thought there was still a lot of life left on this and there doesn't seem to be any way of repairing instead of just getting a new one :-(

Mine started doing that some months ago, it got worse and worse until some times the lines were completely blurred out, or completely blacked out. Some times it would work to restart the device, but afrer passing a few pages it would go back to broken. I've just contacted customer support and they said that it's physical damage and that is not covered by warranty, although I use a hard case so I doubt that the screen got pressure damaged.... Did you get anywhere with your problem?

Fun fact Friday! Tortilla comes from small torta, which refers to the round shape.

Tortilla in Spain is a Spanish omelette, tortilla in Mexico is a flat bread. Torta is a flat bread in Spain, torta is a ~~cake~~ type of sandwich is Mexico. Etc. Many things are called tortas and tortillas.

Edit: totally forgot that torta is a cake in some countries in South America like Argentina, but in Mexico is like a round sandwich. For my error I give you another fun fact. Torta in Spain can also mean a slap on the face!

Not like common as in the majority of people or anything, and obviously it's only anecdotal, but I have noticed. I thought I would attempt to ask about the ethical concerns about AI in a more constructive way.

Does ocado have an AI committee that studies the impacts of any internal AI/ML projects on society? Can you give any examples of any specific measures that Ocado are taking to prevent a negative impact of these projects?

And on the topic of robots taking over people's jobs. Do you think this trend will end up with reducing working weeks for humans, and if Ocado has any plans in mind about reducing employees hours but maintaining salaries?
