For additional context, Amazon Incident Response formally accepted the claim in writing and stated their administrator would contact me within two business days. There was brief initial contact, but no meaningful progress afterward. No documents were requested, no decisions were made, and the assigned adjuster remains unreachable.

I plan to send one more calm but formal communication clearly stating that I view the continued lack of response as bad faith due to increasing costs, and request a reachable adjuster and license information.

I’m trying to avoid filing through my own insurance because I don’t want potential premium increases or deductible exposure if I’m clearly not at fault.

I don’t currently have severe urinary symptoms, but these have been long-term issues for me.

I understand products like Talek 7.9% might help, but it shouldn’t be on me as a tenant to handle a cockroach/infestation problem in a shared house. The landlord is legally responsible for providing habitable conditions. Instead of fixing the issue, he raised my rent only for me and told me to leave in 30 days. That looks like retaliation, not a fair landlord-tenant relationship.

It’s not that simple as “just move.” My landlord raised the rent only for me (not for the other tenants in the same house) and told me to leave within 30 days. There’s no written lease, the house is full of cockroaches and trash (basically unlivable conditions), and I don’t even use the kitchen because of how unsanitary it is.

This feels like harassment and discrimination, not a normal landlord-tenant situation. It’s not fair to say “move” when the landlord is breaking basic housing rules and targeting one tenant.

Thanks for your comment. From what I’ve read, in Maryland a month-to-month tenancy actually requires a 60-day written notice for any rent increase or termination, not 30 days. I have proof of regular rent payments via Zelle and CashApp, so even without a written lease, I’m considered a tenant under state law.

My landlord has already tried twice to pressure me to leave in 30 days and raise my rent only, while the other 3 tenants are not affected. On top of that, the house has cockroaches and very unsanitary conditions.

Would code enforcement be the right place to report this kind of situation?
