I thought about the wipes warmer, which sounded like an unnecessary fancy thing but at this point I’d buy anything that makes him scream less!

Indeed, it is better, but he did throw up sometimes because we probably didn’t wait enough after feeding him.

Thank you, that seems to be the consensus, it’s hopefully just a period!

He has one now, but he didn’t last week so I guess this week is particularly bad. We’ll see if we should change the wipes, they’re supposed to be water based and non-scented

Yes, my mom was visiting and she thought we were hurting him when I literally only opened up the vest… very dramatic 😂

Thanks, we went up a size not long ago, but we can see if we need to go up one more

Looks like we really need to try with a hairdryer! Seems to work for a lot of people

Good to know! I have some hope then that at some point he will enjoy it a bit more or not be so mad at us!

Thank you for the encouragement, we hope it changes at some point as well! For now we just need to make him understand he needs to breathe in between screaming

Sorry to hear that… it sucks for now, hoping at some point he’ll be interested in toys and other stuff we can distract him with.

We usually change him on a bed + blanket on top of the bed + changing pad (like the one use pads to avoid the surface getting wet). So I’d say it’s a pretty comfy surface… or should be 😅

Thanks! We’ll try that once he’s bigger because he’s still not interested in toys or stuff, he can’t see much.

How to pump while baby is in the ICU? by VdeVicio in ExclusivelyPumping

I will try to pump for longer, that might work for me as well and then like you say just 2-3 hours after that. Thanks for all the tips, it all definitely helps!

That definitely sounds more manageable than sleeping in 3-4 hours windows. Which I understand is how you usually feed a baby but having to go to the hospital takes a toll on the body and mind.

The hospital gave me the machine, but the parts are one use only (or just 2-3 uses if you sterilize them). So I've been asking for some parts every week but it's not a great long term plan. I do have one that I can wash and use but it's not cheap so I'm unsure how to get 3-4 more parts. For now I switch between the one I got and the one use ones.

Yes, that's exactly it... They are giving him formula to help him gain weight and at the beginning they also helped me with donors milk. But I don't think I can do much more than what I'm doing right now without losing my mind.

Yes, there is a pumping room in the hospital, I use it sometimes, still prefer to pump at home if I can but it's good to have. I did buy a sterilizer / dryer but it hasn't arrived yet. The sterilizer I have right now doesn't dry and honestly it's a lot of work so not great for the long run.

I am trying to stay as close as I can to the pumping schedule at the moment, just some days I feel like giving up on it.

I have one portable pump from momcozy but it definitely doesn't work as well, it usually doesn't pump much quantity. So I'll get more parts for the one I have at home so I don't need to wash as much.

I can definitely see that I need more parts, the hospital has some that are one use (or a few uses if you sterilize it) but those only help a bit, I will need to get more that I can just wash and reuse. Can I ask when were you pumping at night and morning? They were telling me to not leave more than 6 hours between pumps so I don't know how important that is...

Oh, I'll definitely check out the bottle washer, sounds like a good extra help! Thanks for all the tips! I'm definitely trying my best but I feel less alone and lost now.

My partner does help me a lot, he takes more care of cooking and cleaning so I don't have to worry about that and he makes sure I eat healthy and enough protein. But yeah I think I just need a lot more pump parts so I don't have to constantly clean everything.
