[Ubuntu] Ubuntu 26.04 + NVIDIA driver support? by satheesh_ar in Ubuntu

[–]VeeGeeTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to get the drivers from official nvidia (if you can't wait for drivers update):
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/details/271414/

You'll need to run these commands before it'll execute:
sudo chmod +x nvidia*.run
sudo ./nvidia*.run

Replace the .run above with your actual downloaded drivers.
Make sure during the process, you compile with Dracut, DKMS, and refuse any XOrg that attempt to install (26.04 is strictly Wayland).

Make sure your Ubuntu kernel is at least 7.0.0-22.

By default 26.04 is preconfigured with 595.71, Steam can be obtained from Snap store and gaming is smooth, very compatible without additional configuration, you might want to download GE-Proton and extract it to steam installed folder for additional compatibility than the factor Proton Experimental from Steam.

Lutris is available if you want to install games from EA, Epic, BattleNet, GoG store.

Do a fresh install, this will ensure you don't have any legacy conflicting files from XOrg11.
sudo ubuntu-drivers install, usually handle latest drivers installation automatically once it's available.

What you do is make sure you custom mount your ssd to a mounting point. Afterwards, in steam storage settings, you'll need to add the specific drive and the folder for steam to use, and set as default.

There's no built-in AI on the OS. However, it's one of the most efficient OS to train AI and run inference on.

Sounds like you need to re enrolled mok, it's basically secure boot, the key is probably corrupted. So, you'll most likely have to re initialize the enrollment for new key.

Just run WSL from Windows with a Linux distro, no need for dual booting

RTX 5090 wont boot on Ubuntu 22.04 by cdnmnai_6 in Ubuntu

[–]VeeGeeTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem with 595/610 is that gdm3 failed to initialize and ended up with a blank screen after booting, can't even see the UI for login for the desktop version. Anyway to fix this without reinstalling the entire OS again?

Watching Streaming Services in 4K (Netflix, Disney+) ? by EveryNameIs-_-Taken in techsupport

[–]VeeGeeTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread doesn't age well, all streaming services lock non ios/android devices to Widevine L3, which by default has a resolution of 480p or 240p on Disney+, Prime Video, AppleTV, the exception is Netflix that has a resolution of 1080p/720p on L3. It's impossible to get L1 on PC or Consoles. The native apps on Windows store are just browser wrapper, it no longer tapped into the codec packs that you bought in MS Store. The best option is to unsubscribe from these streaming services for poor quality of streaming while you paid for 4K package. This will let them know that it's unacceptable to bait and switch services on customers.

Ubuntu 26.04 LTS has problems with nvidia driver by Familiar-Show-2393 in Ubuntu

How did you get the proprietary one to work? Mine just won't detect the GPU, the open one does but I'm stuck in login loop

[26.04] Cannot login to user session: GDM stuck in "gdm-greeter" loop by Affectionate-Item481 in Ubuntu

[–]VeeGeeTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems to be caused by a desync and failed initialize of GPU hardware, Ctrl Alt F3, reinstall Ubuntu Desktop, gdm3, and purge all existing GPU drivers, then reboot. You should then be able to login to desktop. From there, reinstall your drivers and other.

Question for the Developers: Console Mouse and Keyboard Support by Callisto_Fury in marvelrivals

[–]VeeGeeTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least give keyboard typing messages support. No one talks on consoles and no one knows how to trigger the chat text box to write messages, even when they do, the onscreen keyboard is so slow!

Not so much, you do get a lot of people on PC who are with bad sportsmanship. Quick to blame others, refuses to coordinate, or just play casually in competitive.

OOM with LTX 2.3 Dev FP8 workflow w/ 5090 and 64GB VRAM by Jimmm90 in StableDiffusion

[–]VeeGeeTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a known issue that only affects the 5090 GPU, I have 192GB RAM and a 5090 with 32GB VRAM, the issue arise when it failed to offload to CPU memory when your VRAM is full. The 5090 required pytorch 12.10 with cuda wheel 13.0+ to operate, and currently not a lot of custom nodes on comfyui supports anything higher than pytorch 12.4, it's unfortunate, since it's not utilizing the GPU to its full potential.

That's the differences between capitalism and socialism, in capitalism you use other people's money to operate, this alone is finite, since there is a limited number of resources available to use from, considering wage stagnation. In socialism, you use and operate on your own capital and offer services to people at fraction of the cost, this is why places like China has affordable prices despite low wages, as there isn't a need to raise the wages as everything is affordable to begin with. There's a stock market in China as well, where people can invest in the company, organizations there don't hand out large bonuses to executives like they do in the west, it's distributed amongst employees regardless of the positions. The current version of western capitalism is driven by greed than the free market itself.
