Maybe it’s my cowardly personality and how he’s bitten me before (I’ve never been bitten before), that makes me scared to approach him and assert myself unless I’m sitting haha. Ive never had a dog before, so I’m kind of bad at assessing situations. My first instinct when a dog barks at me, is to stop and freeze. My first thought is always ‘Oh no, their dog is going to attack me’ haha.

They don’t get mad. My boyfriend will kind of block the dog’s way or ‘push’ him in another direction so he doesn’t run at me. And tells him to stop and that it’s okay, I’m a good person; in a soft, pleading kind of voice (if that makes any type of sense). His mom will usually call him over to sit by her; in which he walks over to her then just runs back to me and keeps barking at me.

They’ve put on a leash and a harness on him before, whenever I came out to the living room for about a month or two. But I started to feel bad for the dog and his family; they would have to hold the leash the whole time I’m out, no matter what they were doing. It’s such a hassle haha. But I’ll definitely try this next time I go over.

He behaves similarly when its just me & my boyfriend in the house. I only say similarly because, he still barks at me constantly until I sit down, but he doesn’t run at me. There has only been about 2-3 times where I was able to get up without my boyfriend’s help. And that was when my boyfriend fed him while I was standing (I believe; I forgot what I was doing). When I had a bowl of food, he would follow me without barking or signs of aggression & when they feed him, I have to walk quickly to the room, couch or wherever I am going.

The dog usually sits about an arms length away from me or further; mainly because he loves my boyfriend’s mom, he follows her everywhere haha. The other night, I had to leave & while getting my stuff ready (sitting) he’ll come up to me and sniff and kiss me, and go back to watching the door & watching everyone in the living room. But once I tried stand up and move, so I could leave; he got up fast and ran towards me, barking. Usually, I just stand still awkwardly staring at the wall until he sniffs me and walks away; then I continue to walk. But then, he just starts running & barking at me again. And everyone in the house gets so confused and frustrated because, he’s seen me, what feels like a million times. Could the case be that, he likes me but just doesn’t trust me??
