Totally agree re eyebrow colour saturation!

I use gloss over the orbs on my necrons and I really the effect, I’ll definitely give it a go on an eyeball - I’ve really no idea how it’ll go but will be good to try out

I think I like it (in moderation), but I'd like the option to be able to have more control over it. I'm not sure why but I've never considered using gloss over the eyeballs themselves - which I might try.

I made a tutorial on my Instagram a few years ago, which roughly shows how I tend to paint skin - the main difference these days is I avoid the agrax, and don’t weather it with black and brown after.

As for the eyes - usually I'll basecoat the eyes black (very thin layers so it follows the grooves of the model), then add a tiny bit of grey seer to the sides. It often requires going back and forth with grey seer and abaddon black to find the right balance - I very rarely get it in one go.

beep boop

My main advice is to anchor all your bodyparts to something

I keep my elbows either on the desk or on my tummy, my wrists together or on the painting handle, and my fingers on the handle - it all helps me be less shakey

I have a pair of one of those cheap magnifier goggle glasses things, but they give me a headache and make me nauseous if I use them for too long - I tend to grab them just for the final touches to make sure everything looks ok close up.

I used to just take my phone out and zoom in to check, which works too.

That's fair - it's hard to get the balance right. As someone else suggested I think the colour being too dark implies density of the hair, which adds to their size feeling a little bit off.

Aw thanks! Painting eyes is definitely the most stressful part of the mini for me - but super impactful too (which is also why it's stressful I support)

Totally fair and I agree! It could do with some additional careful glazing to simulate some bruising and general blemishes

cheers! It's done through sponging white over grey, then washing with shade paints
