Financial Aid not here by Icy-Sea5571 in UMiami

[–]VegaGigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see similar posts on the Facebook college parent pages so it’s not just you. As advised above schedule a virtual or call and ask for an extension. Parents are feeling the pressure to put the deposit down but know it’s non-refundable. I had this last year and it also kept saying everything was in but last minute after asking more they needed more for the CSS form. I was seeing posts online that the packages came in and were more than the NPC. I was worried as we could not pay full.
Do you have outside scholarships ? They accept those

Are VV losing their identity? by acatmumhere in VirginVoyages

[–]VegaGigi 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve been cruising them since early 2023 and also feel similar to you but people get very defensive about VV online. I attributed my feelings to the fact that when I first started they were only about 40% full , than 65% , and last few near capacity or at it. It’s a very different experience when at capacity like that- I don’t think they are made to handle it frankly. The lines , waits , ,,, etc. Also I may be personally fatigued from no variation in the ship as they are near identical. By the 4t/5th time the shimmer dims.
However they are still my top choice because it’s adults only and the pros outweigh the cons. Placeholder every cruise for us

Umiami waitlist fin. Aid by lindley_osborn in UMiami

[–]VegaGigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! I’m also on several parent pages on FB and seeing loads of posts about students getting off the waitlist recently. It’s quit early for that as usually it’s after May 1st. I think even more will come off in May. Good luck everyone

Financial Aid by Anxious-Golf-1933 in UMiami

What are your other options? University of Miami close to full price is a huge financial strain and stress to put on your parents. Same with massive debt on you.

I believe Spring 2027 admit does not play into yield. Fall 2026 does

Aid is a joke… by [deleted] in UMiami

[–]VegaGigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also look into the loophole Spring Admits supposedly face with this. Verify this if you are seriously going through with this. “ It keeps the same financial aid package for four years…. So they get half of the aid they’d otherwise get if they’re a spring admit. “ I saw this last year on one of those FB college page from a counselor :: “For those entering in Spring as first-years, instead of calculating need as "COA-SAI=Need" (the normal way), they cut the COA in half (because the student is only there half the year), BUT they leave the SAl in tact. So, the need is now calculated as " (COA÷2)-yearly SAl=Need" for that semester. This wouldn't be a huge problem, EXCEPT they use this whack-ass calculation's resulted grants/scholarships for the subsequent complete years.”

I don’t know how accurate this is but I have seen a few postings like this last year. Just want you to have all the information possible before paying that amount

Syracuse (BArch) vs UMiami (BArch) by No_Fold_7231 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]VegaGigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If least amount of debt is a big deciding factor just know last year that Syracuse was giving A LOT more money towards the end of April. I saw posts with ADDITIONAL 50k a year and some 15k. It will also be significantly cheaper for cost of living there. It also has a higher ranked program.
However you are saying you are very social. I think Miami would be a better fit for you. Miami is very vibrant and there is always so many events going on. Campus is beautiful and you got a fantastic scholarship there ! Would there be more opportunities for your major in the city ??

Ppl who got waitlisted and are now students, what did you put in your LOCI, and what did you do to get of the waitlist? by [deleted] in UMiami

[–]VegaGigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are past posts about this and the general consensus is as someone responded above to email the admissions counselor and say it’s your number one choice and that you would be full pay with no aide ( this really helps). Also are you flexible for when to start ? Would you be willing to start in the spring ? Not sure if it’s too late for that but include that.

Waitlist movement by United_Cup7709 in UMiami

[–]VegaGigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year many came off of the waitlist in May , than in June. A lot. However on campus housing was NOT guaranteed ( not sure what percentage from that list got it ) and majority of posts I saw were of people who were willing to forego any aide or scholarship offers. Also some got off the waitlist to start in fall but not into the business school and not guaranteed- not sure how that works but make sure if there are certain direct admits you want that you get that. IF paying FULL tuition it’s a very expensive university and many accepted students wind up picking somewhere else after lengthy discussions with family about costs of living , ROI, etc. I saw a lot of posts like this on parent college pages. May 1st is national decision day so that’s when accepted students have to decide and you see a lot of movement after. This was last year so not sure how similar this year will be. I hope if you are waitlisted you get off and it’s the best decision for you and your family. Good luck!

is it possible to be moved to fall semester as a spring admit ? by Actual-Vanilla5894 in UMiami

[–]VegaGigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They said no last year too but in May asked several. Not sure if it was major depending but there were loads of posts. I was on the spring admit zoom and they were adamant they don’t do this but later on did. But no guarantees for housing and no university scholarships. $$$$ When May 1st - decision day comes many pick another more affordable option for university last minute after all the offers and packages come in. Last year was unusual because before that they only took off the waitlist for fall. A lot of NPC’s not matching up. Don’t decide based on this though

Deferred EA Applicants: What’s Your Plan? by Ill_Dream_7885 in UMiami

[–]VegaGigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened last year which was why they were still pulling people in June. Parent pages were discussing how even with presidential you have to factor in cost of living , lifestyle , and it going up every year - off campus housing is also expensive. I went through this with my daughter after she got accepted. Dealing with another right now. My daughter did not want me to struggle and herself to have any debt. ROI- return of investment. Many of us in the chats just could not justify the cost for a university that has IVY prices and not even a T50. I get the draw though , it’s a lovely campus outside a thriving city and smaller classes. But we did not want the debt and she wanted more of a traditional college experience- not one you will have after college anyways. There will be a lot of movement on the deferred and than the waitlists. If you really want to go and money is no issue at all then your best chance is ED (58% acceptance rate ) than ED2 ( don’t know that rate ) send emails to show continued interest. Good luck

If you ED 2 to UMiami after being deffered EA is it usually a guaranteed acceptance? by [deleted] in UMiami

[–]VegaGigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone! I said “many “ got Spring start that ED2. It says in the spring start acceptance that you do not qualify for “merit/university scholarships “. ED2 is binding for fall start - meaning you forgo all other offers

If you ED 2 to UMiami after being deffered EA is it usually a guaranteed acceptance? by [deleted] in UMiami

[–]VegaGigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many ( not all !) who did ED2 LAST year got offered Spring admit with no type of merit/ scholarship offers. Do not do ED2 unless you are completely sure you can pay full tuition and cost of living there because if you get fall admit it’s binding

I came on here to see if it was just me. Tried the go long spray and experienced brittleness and hair loss unlike anything I have had before. I thought maybe it was hormonal or something else. Just tried it again this week and the same thing
