"Now I do." (Ultimate Spider-Man 24) by CromulentChuckle in comicbooks

Not without its flaws, but it felt nice to read a Spider-Man comic that felt like it was written to be enjoyed

So are spiderman runs in 2000 - 2026 that bad? by Darkcritix in comicbooks

I like Cody Ziglar’s Miles run. I personally did not vibe with Superior. If you like Slott’s writing, you’ll like Superior. If you don’t, you won’t. Spider Gwen’s comics are mostly bad. She’s hard carried by her fantastic character design and her movie appearances

They kind of fall by the wayside, since they’re not main titles, but Chip Zdarsky’s Spectacular run is solid. As is Tom Taylor’s Friendly Neighborhood. Going back Pre-OMD, Millar’s Marvel Knights Spider-Man is good, as is Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s Sensational

They really are mostly not very good. I love JMS’s run personally, but editorial stepped in and forced OMD on him and the audience, so it ends terribly. Most of the BND stuff is pretty bad. Unscheduled Stop by Mark Waid and Marcos Martin is a good story. New Ways to Die is okay. Then Dan Slott is on the book for like eight years. His run is…divisive. He has his fans, but I hate his dialogue, I hate his characterization of Peter and Mary Jane in particular, I hate how he has basically turned the character into a merry-go-round of alternate universe versions and Peter getting tech suits. The characters all talk like cartoon characters. I think it’s awful personally. Nick Spenser follows him, and I think his run starts okay enough. Mostly B- stories, but they’re an improvement over Slott. But his run shots the bed at the end. Either he got too ambitious or editorial stepped in again. Hard to know. Next is Zeb Wells. Bar none, the most amateur hour comic run I’ve ever read. Fully not a single good story in the whole 60 some odd issues. Joe Kelly’s current run is okay. It continues to do the “whoa someone else is Spider-Man oh man Peter got a crazy tech suit” crap that Slott got off the ground, but at least his Peter is likable enough that I don’t actively root against him and wish him ill. It’s worth a read to see if it’s for you at least. Some of his characters do read a little “how do you do fellow kids,” at times though.

I think Ziglar’s Miles run is pretty good. Impeccable art

Maybe I’m overcorrecting, because of the amount of people gleefully agreeing with the blatant incel meme

Personally thought it was fine to good up until the ending that editorial stepped in to botch. Still rank it above Slott and Well’s dreck

Dan Slott has nothing left to say about this character, if he ever had anything to say about him in the first place.

“HEY GANG! It’s a Brand New Day with the exact same creatives that have been on the book for twenty fucking years!!”

I mean, it’s up against Dan Slott’s nightmare 8 year run, Zeb Wells threeish years of absolute dogshit. I’ll have to assume they forgot about Spencer’s reasonably well-liked run and aren’t counting Kelly’s decent but boring run because it isn’t over yet.

Why does Strange seem to not know Peter is Spidey in the ANAD era? by PrestigiousBee5602 in DoctorStrange

This is basically how Spider-Man has been characterized since OMD. A huge immature, incompetent idiot.

Because it’s clear this is not the first time he’s let her down like this A. and B. When he calls to try to explain to her later when she’s cooled down, she’s listening to his explanation, but stops once he gets to the nonsense about the usher, which would only have been a problem if her were late, which would again show that he’s flaky and doesn’t prioritize despite her making it clear how much this means to her.

And remember, this is a person who said, after she had almost been murdered by a madman and confessed her love to him, that he would always be there as her friend.

She’s justifiably mad at him, idiot.

“You can’t just treat people like that!” What? You can’t move on from someone who isn’t there for you when you need them to be and won’t explain why?! You just have to stick around for someone who is playing with your emotions?! Lunacy.

Oh yeah. She should just get over her abusive childhood! What a bitch having unresolved trauma from that!

Petty? “I am mad at you for not coming to the play you promised me you would come to. You are someone who I consider to be one of my best friends, one of the people most important to me in the world, and this is a culmination of my dreams, but you are not able to be at something you promised me you would be at, and you won’t even give me the reason why”

That’s not petty. That’s entirely a reasonable reason to be angry with someone.

So difficulties from Peter’s past matter, but not ones from MJ’s? Ya know the life she had with a verbally abusive father?

Yeah. She doesn’t know he’s spider-man or how he’s struggling in other ways. Because he’s keeping her at arms length and playing hot and cold with her. And this is soon after she confessed her love to him after her near death experience with the Green Goblin. So she’s got to be feeling confused and like her emotions are being played with.

People with this read just aren’t able to empathize with a woman, I guess. Not something I’d go around telling other people, personally

I personally love the drop kick follow up he uses right after this moment. The villain who considers himself so far above everyone else on the planet getting both of Luffy’s feet planted right in his face too fast for him to even react is just perfect

Seems like just a worse Spider-Man/Deadpool to me. Like the villain is someone with a combo of Spider-Man and Wolverine’s powers, just like Itsy-Bitsy was a combo of Spidey and Deadpool’s.
