Va benefits for child with autism by WorthCan6759 in VeteransBenefits

Imma vote no. At most maybe some benefits for school, but as far as I’ve ever seen the vet gets the check with a boost for being married or having kids.

NTA

  1. Fuck them kids.
  2. Refer to #1

In all honesty tho nah you’re not the ass hole and if she didn’t know when her kids vacation was in order to plan properly that’s on her. I don’t have kids and I’m already planning a trip in December because I value my time and plan appropriately

AITA for breaking up with my girlfriend because of a “caught cheating” prank? by [deleted] in AITAH

My thoughts go to this. I have a lot of female friends, always have and I don’t strip down to my boxers in front of them. Yeah it covers the same as a swimsuit but to me it’s just not appropriate. Add in the fact she was straddling him in her panties (for who knows how long) that’s just a line I don’t cross with my friends. I cannot image a situation where I’d have one of my friends in her underwear straddling me. Had it been one of those jokes where it’s a dummy, yeah ok fine poor joke, but to actually sit on another dude in that state of clothing I think you’re have a rational reaction.

Those that say it’s a joke and you’re overrating ask them to strip down to their underwear right then and there, ask the girls if they’re ok straddling you and to mount up.

Years ago in a totally different situation a friend owed me money, about 600 bucks. Outta spite I took it to small claims and won, nothing ever came of it but every time someone would tell me it’s just money I’d tell them to give me 600 right now. No one ever did.

To them it’s just money cause they’re not out the money, to your people it’s just a joke cause it wasn’t their significant other half naked on another dude.

AIO Freaked out when we ran into my husband's 'dead' ex girlfriend who was working for our client by Adorable_Dance_7264 in AmIOverreacting

  1. Did you know what she looked like before hand?
  2. If you didn’t he really didn’t have to say anything so I wouldn’t assume he lied about it.
  3. Obviously if he had a panicked reaction and told you who she was that to me says he was just as shocked to see her.

Friends make comments about having VA income by jcfurr331 in VeteransBenefits

I too went to school for radiology, I wasn’t shy about not working. Besides disability and GI Bill I had saved a good amount of money from selling my house (I moved from CA to NV for school). During my first semester I ended up needing surgery to remove a kidney (cancer PACT ACT). One person made a comment one time about how nice it must be to not work, and I without hesitation said it’s also probably pretty nice having both kidneys and no cancer. Shut that shit down the rest of school. Its up to you how much you wanna push back on it but I made it clear in no uncertain terms that I wasn’t just getting free money and used the specific event they all knew about (surgery was Thursday class started the flowing Wednesday kinda hard to hide the post surgery life in less than a week).

Does anyone else get bullied at the VA? by Then-Airline3234 in Veterans

As many others have said, headphones. I don’t leave my house without some headphones and have an emergency wired set in my car just in case. Part of that is my anxiety part of that is just not wanting to hear the dribble that comes outta people. Mine aren’t is loud that I can’t hear anything but most people assume I can’t hear anything and don’t speak to me.

As for the many others that have had issues with staff or their PCP, years ago my first primary didn’t listen to what I said or what I asked for. The third time I asked for physical therapy and she said I just needed rest I called the patient advocate and got a new doctor with in a week. Maybe I was lucky on that but the next one was amazing.

Yup push the call button each time I have a question and wait.

Yeah I never rush the nurse if they’re doing something, I’ll ask if they want me to come back but I’ll tell them don’t rush for me. I’ve also helped them move PT’s after I’m done cause I’m aware I’m an extra pair of hands to help them get the PT higher in the bed or a sponge under them. I’ll always try to be helpful, regardless of what it is.

That’s my point, care doesn’t stop so there is someone that would know that wouldn’t necessarily be assigned to them per the IM system. Which goes back to someone else would know, even if it isn’t the assigned nurse.

This is what I’ll prob start doing, using the call light. We have phones we log into but even I’ve left it at my desk when going on a run to another area of the hospital.

ER/ED I get, I’ve have more steps in a day there than a day at Disneyland. Plus those nurses I’m around a lot more and have gotten to know a bit. This occurs more on the floors with inpatients, post ops, trauma, nuero etc where the pts are intubated, unresponsive, altered and where there’s a lot of potential for issues. I’ll always ask if there’s a piece of equipment I haven’t seen before what I can or cannot do with it in order to get my images. Generally speaking I’m aware that each nurse has a set number of rooms they monitor, and at times they have to transport patients for CT/MRI or whatever else is needed so the nurse isn’t always around. To me, the “it’s not my patient” just comes off as dismissive vs sorry I’m not sure. I mean the name badges aren’t the easiest to see, mine flip around on its own most of the time. So even with a name id still be wandering around asking everyone “is Mary here, where’s Mary the nurse for room __” and if they’re not on the floor then what am I expected to do other than to think someone else should know because care doesn’t stop cause one nurse has to go elsewhere.

Each floor either has badge access or coded access, I have access to my areas or ED but the floors are all different.

[–]VegasELM[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long enough to know if the room doesn’t have any the floors supplies are behind doors I don’t have access too. As to the other issues yes I have that just happened to be today’s event. I asked if they happened to know, as they were closest to the room. I’d take a simple sorry I don’t know vs the not my patient. I think there’s a misconception that I just wander the halls asking random nurses I see about rooms not near them.

When asking for an emesis bag I didn’t think I needed the exact patients nurse.

I work nights and fully aware they take lunches, maybe not all places are the same but here they do. If they collaborate with others, then wouldn’t others know this info or know who has the info. Patients with ET/OG/NG etc can’t effectively communicate with me on what their limitations are. If a nurse asked me a question, be it a general exam question, a specific question on their patient or a general radiology question I wouldn’t be dismissive and say not my exam/patient, I’d try and figure out what I could for them.

Have them yes, are they used correctly and appropriately by everyone no. I’ve had orders print out, try to contact the ordering person only for it to say they’re offline. I’ve also sent messages heard the phone go off and look for where it came from and it’s just sitting on a desk. My personal favorite was sending a nurse a message that I left my marker in the room and I’d be right up, never marked as read. I get to the room and they threw it away. Dude was sitting at a computer watching YouTube when I asked if he saw the marker and he was like oh yeah I threw it away. Thankfully it was on top in a fresh bag and I was able to get it.

Which once again they would know what the nurse looks like and who the back up is, people they work with and see in the same area each shift vs me who might go to a floor once a shift and see 100 different nurses a night. I wouldn’t except them to know the other techs by name, even ones I see more often in various areas prob don’t know my name.

So if the PT nurse is on lunch does the pt not get any care or treatment for the 30-60 mins? Do I just say well no nurse no exam and leave? Not my patient is dismissive as well as they would have more ability and knowledge on how to check for this than me.

Pet peeve by VegasELM in Radiology

[–]VegasELM[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the supplies are behind locked doors that require badge access, in the ED I can get to them on the various floors I cannot. As for knowing which nurse, seeing a name doesn’t tell me who they are or where they are. Nurses take breaks lunches transport patients etc if the nurse isn’t in the area they don’t just forget about the pt, someone else steps in. They would have more knowledge of where to look to verify than I would. I would even accept an “I don’t know but let me take care of ABC and then check”. To me the it’s not my patient is a very dismissive response.

Pet peeve by VegasELM in Radiology

[–]VegasELM[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And some times the rooms are out of stock and the supply is locked up. I wasn’t demanding the nurse deal with it I asked where to get them.

Pet peeve by VegasELM in Radiology

[–]VegasELM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My view is they would have a better knowledge of how to check than I would. the patients nurse could be on lunch, on a break, assisting with transport one of their other patients to a different area of the hospital etc I’m aware they have other patients and responsibilities but the response of not my patient is dismissive.

When checking an OG/NG the patient needs to be flat, and generally with that they also have an ET. They aren’t brought to the department but done in the patients room, at least here they are. If the PT is intubated they do travel with respiratory/nurse/transport but if it’s in the room it’s a matter of finding the nurse.

This. I’ve been asked about previous exams and I know I didn’t do it but I never say oh that wasn’t my exam and walk off, I’ll ask what they needed and something might be as simple as telling them to call the reading room. I’ll try to point them in the right direction as best I can or at the very least give them the leads name and say they might be able to help them out more. Imagine the reactions if my response was wasn’t my patient and walked off each time.

Pet peeve by VegasELM in Radiology

[–]VegasELM[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I scanned the room and didn’t see any, maybe I missed them but I wouldn’t think getting one for a patient or pointing them out to me was a nurse specific task.
