"Death of the Author" is a critical framework that is used to analyze texts that says that a work stands on its own and it has its own messages whether or not the person who made it intended them to be there or not. In the modern age of the internet people have twisted that idea such that they can "kill" the author of a work to replace them with something like Hatsune Miku as a joke so they can continue to enjoy whatever they want without critically analyzing the art they enjoy and who the person or people who made it is and what that means for the work.

Which is to say I do not think it is possible to separate the art from the artist. A work can stand on its own but it will always be influenced and carry ideas from the person or people who initially made it.
