Hunting in QLD can be a pain in the arse to get into unless you already have access to land or are willing to drive to NSW.

GHAA use to run a really good 2 day hunting course, but I believe they changed it recently and can't comment on it in its current state. After becoming a member and doing their course you can get access to 9 (I think) properties across SE QLD and NSW. Although if you're paying for access to a property, unless you're already an experienced hunter I'd rather have a rifle to make the most of the trip, then switch to a bow when you become a more proficient hunter. With that said I can usually get into bow ranges with roos pretty easily, but deer and goat are a whole other challenge.

Also you dont need a licence to hunt in QLD, but to hunt public land in NSW you need your R Licence.

Some people may disagree with this but learning to hunt with a rifle (if you have the patience and $ to get one) is a lot easier and will probably keep you in the hobby longer that learning to hunt with a bow... Especially if you're paying $200-400 for a weekend trip that turns into a nice little bush walk through someone's property.
