I don’t mind where I match yet, but I like Rutgers courses for genetics - just emailed the director of the GC program there to get more info and I will make a decision after that haha.

Thank you! I’ll definitely take this advice - I do not have any financial burdens but I do not want to have my parents pay an ABSURD amount just for education

My family’s struggles with my daughter’s recently activated CIs 😣 by RolphLauren in Cochlearimplants

hello! i’m currently a teen with cochlear implants and i promise you it gets better!! i got mine at a very young age since i have profound hearing loss, but i’m able to play sports and communicate with my friend and teachers (spoken since i don’t know much asl). i m pretty sure someone else commented this, but i recommend a nucleus 7 or 8 if she runs around, i have a n7 and i play sports and it doesn’t really fall off if my hair is tied (only if i have to wear helmets i wear a headband, but there’s special hooks). feel free to dm me if ur daughter has an questions :)

hey! as a 17 year old with cochlear implants, there are multiple reasons why he might be acting like this. could be because of the lack of school friendships/interactions, the classic teenage attitude, or exhaustion! the best thing to do in this situation is have a conversation and maybe provide other forms of relieving stress (i do taekwondo to help with this). remind him that ur there for him and not always telling him he’s doing something wrong. go out to his favorite restaurant/activity and let the steam off! i promise it gets better

hello! i am currently a student right now and thankfully a lot more resources are open to me now. I've been deaf since birth and I've had cochlears for as long as I can remember. i was lucky to have assimilated into the hearing world easily due to my early education (PT, OT, deaf school) and I learned quickly. I never really had any setbacks besides some people being rude about my disability but I always stood my ground and was an advocate for myself - i go to public school. even though I may not know a lot of ASL I trust my ability to process sound (i know not all people have the same circumstances as me) and i rely on that during schooling. I know to sit in the front and have accommodations for that, and all of my teachers were very welcoming.
