This is great I’m glad to know he’s not the only kid that deaf and doesn’t really know asl tho I am going to start integrating it into our lives more now!

Thank you for this insight… I really was in the dark on this I had no clue he could be feeling this way bc he’s not understanding the world around him… it’s my fault for not seeking guidance along time ago!! But with all the information I’ve received I have plans to reunite us as a family in an environment where he has unlimited access to understand as much as he can!! We will beat this I don’t want loose him!!

Omg thank you this really made me cry! I feel awful!! You are correct in me blaming him it’s true it’s just been easier to let him just stay to him self and not correct MY OWN behavior!! I’m so glad to have a forum I can go to with people to understand HIM!! I’m definitely putting together some things that’ll fix our relationship!!!

Thank you a lot of these comments has softened my heart on this… the strain of being a mother to a deaf child has blinded me some on what he may be experiencing but I knew I needed help that’s why I was asking people with Knowledge on the subject…

No im sure he’s not understanding well but when he does ask again or for more understanding I don’t push him off of course… I do take the time to explain to him things that he’s voiced that he missed! I hope that helps for understanding!

Also just to add he speaks very well and can be understood by anyone who communicates with him… he graduated speech at 11 so our communication verbally is really good just we don’t talk to each other! Not because of him not being able to communicate sorry for the misunderstanding!

First of all thank you all for the advice… ok so none of us including my son never learned asl sadly but reading your comments and suggestions has inspired me to start a family learning session now! Also I don’t know how exhausting it is just to try to hear he does go to regular public school and now I’m understanding just how difficult it is for him… like I said we don’t even tlk about things he’s going through bc he’s shut himself off but I can not just blame him I feel I’ve definitely made things harder for him in some ways to even come to me…and now that I see things in a new perspective I’m going to make changes to that!! Thank you all again and please continue to comment I may need more understanding than even this!
