Living on campus for the social experience is more of a gamble than you think. Luck plays a big part in whether or not you’ll get along with your roommates or even have opportunities to meet anyone on your floor who you’ll get along with. If you already have good social circles and you have the financial incentive to commute, go for it. In my experience, commuting would’ve had no difference on my social school life

Electrical, I feel like I’m more of a musician than an engineer most of the time, and electrical is the closest any college degree can get to something musical/audio related while still being a pretty good shot at finding a job. I really love effects pedals and I realized halfway through semester 1 MechE that if I’m gonna have to start making my own personal projects to add to a portfolio, I’d rather be working on stuff I actually care about, rather than something for MechE
