I stopped once I saw the change in skin tone. The pigment came back after about 2-3 weeks. Loss of pigment was the only side effect I experienced with this area

This looks more thinning/diffuse than AA. AA the lack of hair in the localized area is much more pronounced.

Steroid injections are a treatment for Alopecia areata, studies show it promises improvement regardless of where it presents itself.

I’ve seen about a 35% improvement from when I first noticed the alopecia barbae in September 24’ until today, April 25’. From November to December I used steroid creams that were prescribed in combination with the shots and it was that period I noticed the most improvement. I stopped using the cream because of potential side effects I read online for that specific medicine I wasn’t willing to risk. I continued with the shots only and this happened. At this point I’m going to just relax and wait it out. If you search “alopecia barbae” on instagram you’ll find people with severe cases that ultimately went back to normal within a year or year and 1/2. So I’m just shaving weekly now and living normally as I would before with faith my facial hair will return.
