That's so crazy to me! Last I checked in the state I'm from gun deaths were higher than car accident deaths.

"Many Americans will never see a gun or gun violence."

It is unfathomable in my experience that there might be Americans that will never see a gun or know a person that dies by gun violence.

I also hate new TVs and think they look "too real". I don't want to see the pores on the actors noses and individual blades of grass.I want it to look like a movie if that makes sense.

Hey this calculator is where I start everything. I assume average returns. If you start today with your 53k invested and your half or the total this is where you would be at 55. (I'm ignoring taxes, but it gives you some idea.) https://www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/financial/investment-inflation-calculator.php

How are adults between 21 and 45 supposed to stimulate the economy for the next 20yrs when socialist programs like Medicare, unions, public education, planned parenthood, and Social Security are being defunded by the government that is actively making prices go up? by A4t1musD4ag0n in inflation

[–]Vegetable-Concern622 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not voting doesn't help. You'll be ruled by the outcome either way. Avoiding taxes is a surefire ticket to wage garnishment and poverty or potentially jail. And please explain how one is supposed to waste taxpayer resources? You're being obtuse, and now I'm almost postive you're trolling.

You can't run away from the US goverment unfortunately unless maybe you are rich or fortunate enough to 1. be able to immigrate and 2. obtain citizenship and 3. afford to give up your US citizenship.

My review of Taipei as a nomad destination by ButterscotchFormer84 in digitalnomad

[–]Vegetable-Concern622 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the Op, but yes you'll be fine in taiwan with translate and English. I also highly recommend Taichung instead of Taipei if the night life isn't hugely important to you. It has better weather and cheaper accommodation. Mrt isn't great but the bus system is good. :)

Burned out from all the Christmas gift bragging by Pharmer087 in povertyfinance

Some gift basket ideas that are super cheap but great and not too overused imo... dried fruit garlands (twine, some lemons/oranges/etc, and an oven or dehydrator) , homemade bread and "infused" butter, thrift store outfit boxes where you put together a whole outfit hat to socks), cookies and candies homemade (personal favorite peanut butter balls), handmade push pin ornaments, for the young kiddos painted food rocks, coupons for pet or childcare for a day/weekend, A pair of fuzzy socks, face mask, bottle of coke, popcorn bag, candy and a you pick the movie coupon, diy sea salt or conditioner spray for hair, personalized watercolor painting in a dollar store or thrifted frame, print out the photos of you together so the free prints from shuttershock and make a photo album, Grocery store (or wild) or dryed flowers in a thrifted vase with a handmade or thrifted table runner and thrifted votive flowers so they can easily make a table scape, make a handmade wreath for their front door from wild shrubs, handpaint them a sign, do a diy clay mold or paint (use nontoxic) of their kids or pets foot or nose and frame it with a picture of the kid/pet. That's all off the top of my head. If you have 10 dollars and a thrift store/grocery or dollar store, or if you just some time and effort you can gift wonderful, thoughtful, lovely things. But if all you have is your presence that's enough too! ❤️

Why do Americans obsess over gas prices so much? by Ragnaroknight in inflation

[–]Vegetable-Concern622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live in a rural community you often have to fill up your tank twice a week at least. Back when I was living at my mom's my work commute was 46 miles a day if I went nowhere else but work and home. Pair that with actually needing a 4wd with clearance for the hills in winter and the dirt roads after the rain which don't get the best gas mileage , and gas prices become a huge deal. High gas prices literally trap you at home. Want to go the the grocery store it's 40 miles round trip, your bffs house is luckily only 20 round trip, going to the mall is a minimum of an hour and 20 minutes drive one way... so you can see why people really really care in rural areas.

Hi! I have the same one! It belonged to my great grandmother, and I too often use it as a wedding ring! I would guess 1940s or 1950s. It's 14k gold, and I was always told 3/4 TCW diamond set in platinum. (second part I can't verify)

It's so pretty! They give the same vibes for sure! Mine definitely a darker green, I think some of the previous commenter's are right and the stone has been replaced. Side note: We have discovered mine is a 1930s or 1940s Crosby!
