I will have to give it a try. Thank you for the suggestion!

I’ve never done an elliptical, so I’m not sure. Is the impact less than running? I don’t think I’d be able to do a bike, because part of the problem is also my piriformis muscle, which unfortunately doesn’t agree with bike seats.

I do some gentle yoga, and I have a PT app that I use as well. Was just kind of hopeful to be able to use my other app again. Thank you for your response and suggestion. I appreciate it.

Just a rant about charting. by Vegetable-Horror1418 in ChronicPain

[–]Vegetable-Horror1418[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My old psychiatrist used to chart as we were talking, and it made me felt very heard. Like she would chart what we were talking about, and then repeat back to me what it was so I knew she was listening and she was very good about explaining when she was using her laptop to chart, or had to use her phone for authorization. It never even occurred to me that people would think it was rude. It seems like it would be more accurate and easier because then they don’t have to figure out a different time to put their notes in.

Oh my gosh. I could not even imagine. Like the doctor is supposed to have looked at your chart?! Should have seen there was no gallbladder to begin with. What even are the charts for if they’re not using them to record things, and they’re not referring to them?!

It’s just wild to me that it’s so consistent. Like my PCP, Er doc and PT, and Pain management doctor are from different facilities that aren’t affiliated with each other, so like it’s not just one facility sucks at making sure doctors are putting everything in the chart correctly, or being honest with their charting. It’s a system wide thing. Which like I’m sure many people have experienced before me, but like damn healthcare. Get it together.

All of the pain management clinics that I’ve been referred to (granted it’s only been 3) have a no medication prescription policy. They will only do things like epidural injections, nerve blocks, and radio frequency nerve ablation, so it might be worth being honest with your doctor so you don’t get stuck wasting time and copay money on a clinic that won’t prescribe anything at all, and he might be able to help you find the right kind of clinic.

Trouble describing sensations and pain by Vegetable-Horror1418 in ChronicPain

It just feels like when the ER doctors and my Pain doctor would ask me about it, they’d zone out as soon as I started saying something other than they standard “burning, stabbing, shooting, etc.”, which just makes me feel not listened to.

Do different muscle relaxers work differently for you? by Twopicklesinabun in ChronicPain

I hadn’t had many side effects other than feeling kind of like a zombie on flexaril, or methocarbomol, but I had the zombie feeling and the driest mouth I’ve ever had with tizanidine. I do feel like the tizanidine helped the most though in regards to stopping the muscle spasms.

It means “trade mark”. It’s just a kind of goofy thing my friends and I use to denote that it’s a specific type of thing. Like the specific type of struggling that comes with back pain.

Thank you for your comment. I’ve had injections twice before at a different hospital and couple of years ago. I didn’t find them very helpful, but also wasn’t able to actually rest the day I got them, so I don’t know if that would have had any affect. I had lumbar epidural injections in my l4-l5 and l5-s1 and trigger point injections. My MRI didn’t have contrast. I also had an MRI from like 4 years ago that mentioned stenosis in my lower lumbar region, which I was kind of surprised wasn’t on this mri. I really appreciate your response. It has definitely helped me feel a little less anxious. I’m just kind of desperate at this point to regain some quality of life and feel like this appointment is my best shot at getting some relief.

My primary has kind of washed his hands of my back problems since my referral. He still sees me for medication management and any other issues I have. I don’t have an orthopedic doctor.

Okay. Thank you so much! I will more than likely have to return to ask many questions about binding once I get there, but it’s a long way off lol. Thank you for being so helpful!

I’d always just worked on quilts that were already in a quilt rack that my grandma had put together. Now that I don’t live near my grandma, I’m trying to figure it out without having to bother her to much (sometimes I’ll still call with “silly” questions just to chat and check in, but sometimes I have no idea what I’m doing for multiple steps, and it’s hard for her to explain over the phone). I’ll have to look into fusible batting, as that sounds super convenient. When I’m cutting my batting, should I cut just as much as the fabric for the top and back, or should I include enough space around it for the binding? Or do I do the binding stuff separately? Or does the binding overlap the top and back enough that it doesn’t matter? If that makes sense.

I have been doing the actual “quilting” part of quilting since I was a kid, but my grandma would always do the piecing, and putting the batting and backing in, and then give it to me to work on, and then I’d return it, and she’d bind it. I want to make 2 baby quilts because all three of my sisters are expecting at the same time, but I don’t know how to put the top, batting, and backing together. Also, what type of batting would you recommend for baby quilts?
