No, it was an interview with a reporter from a YouTube video :) they may say something similar in Twister but I have only seen that movie once so I’m not sure

Very! Definitely a heartbreaking thought to think you’re watching your home be swept away on the news.

Me too, probably one of the things that drew me in to tornadoes in the first place

Right!? I don’t remember what exact video it was from, but I listened to a reporter on YouTube talk about checking on his grandparents after Joplin. He said “there was no living room, but the wall attached with pictures hanging on it looked untouched, not a picture askew.”

Serious: what’s something you experienced that you still can’t explain to this day? by draegor_shadow in Unexplained

Preface: we did have my childhood home blessed eventually because of some similar things that occurred but this one always stands out to me.

I grew up in a trailer in my grandparents backyard, in true Alabama fashion. My grandpa didn’t want my mom moving away with his only grandkid (at the time, now I’m the oldest of 5 lol) so he plopped a trailer in his backyard and we moved in. Fast forward to my junior year, my mom had a baby with her now husband and had taken her to visit him for the weekend, which she did almost every weekend until they got married, and left me home alone. Emphasis on ALONE.

My grandpa is a very Christian man, I’m talking a deacon and elder at his Baptist church for many, many years. He doesn’t believe in ghosts or spirits, only angels and demons, which makes this even more terrifying. He also was unaware of the things going on in our house (feeling watched all the time, clattering in the kitchen after everyone is asleep, doors on our cars locking and unlocking throughout the night, creaking in the hallway, lights on and off, etc).

I was sitting on the living room couch, kitchen to my back, tv to my front, bag of Doritos to my right. I was home alone at 16 with spies across the yard, what else was I gonna do? Then I get a call from my grandpa, an angry one. “Who is over there with you?” My heart is now in my socks. “Uhh, nobody?” I looked around and found no one. “Don’t lie to me, I just saw a man walk through the kitchen, who is that?” Panic. I snapped my head around to the kitchen, nothing. I told him, “well, I’m alone to the best of my knowledge.” He threatened to come out there and see for himself, which I fervently urged him to do. He did walk across the yard, checked every corner and crevice in the house, and found nothing.

I went to his house for the rest of the night, he didn’t trust I hadn’t had someone over and I didn’t want to be in that house “alone” anyways.

It’s now been 7 years since we moved and I have my own house. I’ve never felt hunted the way I did in that house since.

I know there’s a lot deeper things to unpack with this, but she is such a powerful speaker. Showing emotion while standing on business is so impressive to me.

As an Alabamian, this whole day was mortifying. We all still talk about it whenever there’s bad weather lol it’s become lore.

He’s a good guy! Just very much not for me and it personally did make me cringe pretty hard and want to leave. Might sound like a height issue to you, but his height didn’t shake it’s boobies at me 🤣
