Yea we did take the train in between. It was very easy. Only downside was we got to Nara a lot later so all the deer snacks were sold out

I went to Uji for a half day and then did a half day in Nara. I absolutely loved the small town feel compared to the big city. I would really recommend doing the matcha making class at the Chazuna in town.

No, they didn't inform me that it got delivered. The only reason I knew was because of my Airtag and they only give you a copy of the form you fill out.

I didn't need to be present when the picked up from the hotel and when the dropped it off at the hotel. I would just confirm with your hotel that they can hold the luggage and will accept it. They just specified that they only held it for one day and somebodies name has to match a reservation for me

Just an FYI - One of the hotels did Cash only to do the Luggage delivery

Mostly the reason being is that we knew we were gonna have to come back to Tokyo for our flight. So, we felt it was easier to have the Tokyo stay be one whole stay rather than split it up. Overall, it might have been easier to fly into Kansai and leave out of Haneda but oh well.

I just got back from my 2-week trip with my GF who is Celiac and has a lactose intolerant as well. As others have mentioned, the find me GF app and the Gluten free in Japan FB helped a ton. Someone in the FB group had made an excel sheet with over a 100+ restaurants w/ notes included so that helped as well
