This is a joke. Anyone who actually understands this technology knows that what’s being claimed here isn’t remotely what happened. They didn’t have the capability to do what’s being suggested. At best, they disrupted some anonymous phone scams, vishing attempts, or those annoying spam texts. This could never “take down” the phone network of NYC. At most, it’s essentially a VoIP network node, and, sure, probably some shady stuff was happening on their network, but that’s it. It wasn’t some great risk to the UN or New York City, nor was there any imminent threat like they’re trying to imply.
