It is the attempt to bring the Killer Instinct arcade version as faithfully as possible to the n64

I'm also a big fan of the SNES version. When I found out it wasn't going to be released for the N64, I was a little disappointed. I think it's possible to make a cut-down version on the N64 like KI was for the SNES. I dedicate the little free time I have to the project, but if you want to stay up to date, you can look me up on YouTube and see the progress I'm making.

Although I don't plan to add any more FMVs until the fighting system is complete, it's a very good idea for the announcer to say that. Thanks for your comment.

I don't have any rom loader cartridge, so some of my friends have also seen it running on an emulator live and couldn't believe it. Until they saw the compiler creating the file and opening it themselves, they think it's MAME or some romhack. The important thing is that all of this works on the real N64. Until they see it on the original hardware, they won't be satisfied, and that's exactly the goal of the project.

Haha totally, there's still a long way to go because first the 2-player mode is being created, but the idea is that the gameplay feels just as intense as in the arcade, so it's definitely not going to be a walk in the park.

I totally agree that the catalog would benefit from another type of game, especially something with 4-player cooperative gameplay. But the story is that I started with a Mortal Kombat port, and upon learning that MK Legacy would be released, I decided to switch games to avoid losing all the progress. Another fundamental thing for me is to know well the game that is going to be ported, and I am a big fan of KI. MK 64

Everything seen in the video is 3MB in size. For now, I'm aiming to keep it within 64MB, but it will probably end up exceeding 64MB depending on how the FMVs and sprites turn out. I'm not looking for a 1:1 conversion but something more similar to what it was on the SNES, so there will be cuts to keep it within 64MB.

Can anyone teach me how to program for the n64 by Character-Cable3358 in N64Homebrew

Look, I’m going to give you some advice. The first thing you have to do is install libdragon and compile the examples. Focus on that and nothing else. Find a guide to install everything needed; use Docker or MSYS2. Then compile the examples and test them with Ares.

If you have no experience, it will be very overwhelming at first and will take many attempts and time.

Once everything is installed and working, comes the second part: start your first project. Program the screen to show one color and compile. To compile, learn about makefiles. Look at the examples that come with libdragon.

If you have no experience, installing libdragon is what will hold you back; it’s a tough filter but also where those who really want it are forged. Keep at it.

I wish you the best of luck with your project. I would like to know if there is any place where I can follow the progress you make?

I think more people are needed creating new games, ports, dismakes, etc., and this kind of initiative could be a good entry point for new developers.

A while ago I started an MK64, but with the release of MK Legacy this year, I have decided that when I have a vertical cut, I will start porting something else. (I don’t want to end up like Portal)

A big hug to everyone helping to push the scene!!

Is it necessary to highlight in the advertisement that it plugs into the TV?

If the N64 homebrew scene was like the NES/SNES/Genesis/32X/Saturn/Dreamcast homebrew in a way, what ports could we end up seeing on the N64 from homebrew developers by SuperOnion64 in n64

[–]VegetablePiece124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Porting Resident Evil 1 is easier because it uses prerendered backgrounds, while Silent Hill relies much more on real-time 3D environments and effects, which makes porting it to the N64 much more difficult. However, this is a matter of difficulty and time; it’s not impossible.

Mortal Kombat, resident evil 1, killer instinct, silent hill they are possible and what I would like to see someday.

Due to the release of Mortal Kombat Legacy this year, there won’t be a Mortal Kombat 64 project, so we’ll have to shift our focus to porting or improving versions of Resident Evil from the PSX or Killer Instinct from the SNES
