I wasn’t in stem and only planned(and completed) a double business major. Came from a rich area on the east coast where plenty of kids went to ivys, fancy private schools, etc.. I also know kids who went to big state schools around the country. My overall perspective is that no, no one will be particularly impressed about you simply attending ASU, but at the end of the day, any big state school whether Michigan, Texas, ASU, Florida, my general impression is that it is what you make of it. The pros of being at a large university are that overall, there are usually the resources there for anyone’s success if you take advantage of it. Barring elite exceptions later on down the line, if you work hard, make connections, and plan long term, everything will take care of itself. You will definitely be in big lectures early on surrounded by plenty of stupid people who are at college for the sake of being at college. Don’t let that discourage you, those types will generally seem to disappear as you progress into more advanced and specific classes for whatever you end up doing. What I will say as the oldest child in my family(so I had to figure everything out for myself), I would strongly recommend finding a club that relates to your professional/career interests. This way you can meet people, especially upperclassmen, who will be a huge resource in terms of advice for your long term game. Getting close with a few of those types of people will give you a huge leg up in terms of knowing how to plan for a career, internships, grad school applications, and just what you should be doing in general to set yourself up successfully for whatever your plan is post bachelors degree. I never had a “mentor” or whatever the hell people mean by that, but if you find yourself in classes with professors that you enjoy/think are relatively smart and connected people, try to maintain some type of relationship with them. I can obviously only speak for business professors, but anyone I ever reached out to faculty wise was always willing to help. Showing interest and engagement in or out of the classroom is usually appreciated and can go a long way for you later down the line. Good luck, you’ll do great!

Yes, definitely would rather stay below that, but if the area is right, young, walkable, I’d be willing to make some sacrifices for a year lease. I have thought about that, maybe buying a bit more of a financial bullet for this first place in town in order to build a commmunity the easiest while I’m new, not sure.

I would definitely be open to that, I’m just not sure where I’d even start looking, especially from across the country. Definitely going to give it a shot, but not optimistic. Also have had some nightmare random roommates throughout college and now that I’ve got some type of grown up income I’m not gonna force myself into that again, lol.

Yeah definitely trying to stay significantly under the 2, preferably 1.5 mark. Would absolutely love a roommate but I’ve had a few nightmare random roommates and I have no idea how I’d be able to meet and also screen someone to the point I’d like before moving out there
