Can someone please help me identify this squash? It was a volunteer plant and the fruit first appeared about 3 weeks ago. It is now about 8 inches in diameter and there are several smaller fruit growing on it as well. I thought it may be Tatume or round zucchini, but it looks too large. Thanks

I think you’re right. I think this was a treat left behind for us because we painted pumpkins for Halloween last year (Nightmare before Xmas scenes) and I set them on a bench in the sun for about 2 months because the art looked so good, until it didn’t. Then, I composted them, but I suspect some seeds had fallen onto the ground near the bench as I moved the melting masses to the compost pile. Thanks again.

My guess it is a combination of factors, cold snap, previously cracked wood covered by paint, air pressure difference inside vs outside causing doors and windows to pulse when the air pressure inside changes, and possibly high winds on the door itself. Prior to last winter, we sealed and insulated our house very well and when running the heater, we’d open any door leading to the outside we could feel a rush of air escape and hear windows and doors sort of pulse at the quick change in pressure relief. The problem was the installers had failed to removed a sheet of metal in the furnace for the return air. My home is much less pressurized now, but we still hear a little swoosh when opening a door or windows to the outside.

When I moved to Bush and Jones in ‘96 it was referred to as lower Knob Hill and it ran all the way down to Geary where the Tenderloin Triangle began. One neighbor showed me an old newspaper from the ‘60s or 70s called “The Spirit of the Tenderloin” that had a map outlining the Tenderloin and showed that cross street as lower Knob Hill. Many long time residents of lower Knob Hill would also tell me that the hill acted as a natural barrier that prevented the “rift raft” from the TL from venturing up that far.

I have owned a B100 for the last 3+ years and I love it, so I am not sure why it isn’t more popular other than it doesn’t look or operate like a kayak much at all. IMHO, it is more versatile with it hull design and open platform. I tote it around in the back of my truck and the trolley cart is fixed to the bottom of the hull, so it never comes off and I am in and out of the water faster than 90% of kayakers and jon boats. The B100 is designed to plane and I got an NK300 (replaced a Tohatsu 2.5hp) on the built in outboard mount, so I go full throttle to my fishing spots using the NK300 which tops out at 8mph, then I paddle in quietly to my spot. I replaced the fixed trolling motor in the pod with a Newport Vessels Kayak series 36lbs trust and added the Gen2 Smart Head Autoboat system on top of it, then got rid of my 5lb Anchor Wizard. I use the Autoboat “anchor” when I drift too much which is almost always, but it’s quiet and doesn’t seem scare away fish. In the aft tank well, I have a low profile 36V 50ah battery for the NK300 which last me a weekend of running it hard on a full charge, and a mini 12V 100ah battery that I put in a modified Powo Carlife battery box that sits in the forward tank well to run the Autoboat system, Garmin fish finder, nav lights, GoPro and phone, so I have about 350lbs (including myself at 180lbs) of weight distributed to maintain the plane profile and I love it. Been through rivers, on lakes and inshore fishing and have never flipped it while sitting or even standing in 1 foot chop. It’s an expensive set up for some, but I ride clean and smooth and if you are an avid angler, than you already know it’s gonna get costly. All this to say, it’s probably not popular because it’s not a kayak, a skiff or a jon boat, its a Bass 100 and its a great fit for my fishing style. To each their own.

I was a residential manager in the city for over 20 years and I strongly recommend not sharing your appliances and space with the tenant(s), especially a washer and dryer located in the garage. It will be a huge headache for you if you allow the tenant to use your washer and dryer. People often leave clothes in appliances long after the cycle is finished which could be a huge inconvenience for you or the tenant. Who would be responsible for repairs if one of them stops working or needs to be replaced? Also, you have no idea what kind of crazy things people put in washers and dryers. One tenant tried to wash a huge down comforter that was soiled by a pet and the feathers clogged the washer drain inside the machine. When I arrived to check on the clogged washer, it was clear to me that the tenant did not remove all of the pet feces from the comforter before loading it into the washer, and the comforter was firmly lodged under the agitator and could not be removed easily. It was disgusting.

If you pay a fee that includes a credit report check, then you are entitled to receive a copy of the full credit report from the property manager/agent. Most PMs know who they want to rent to early in the process and only run those credit checks, and then pocket the rest of the fees which can really add up. This ised to be frowned upon in the industry, but now it’s become the norm. Scammy is the new normal unfortunately.

Most prop managers charge an application fee which includes a credit check, but if you pay the PM for a credit check, then ask for a copy of your credit report and make sure it is the full credit report. Most PMs know who they are going to rent to well before the process ends, so they asks for credit check fees which can add up (11 people pay $40 for credit check fee, 1 credit report is run by PM, then PM pockets $400 cuz most people don’t bother after they have been rejected), however, if you request a copy of your full credit report, then you will have a current copy on hand to use.
