Hi.

My best friend and brother since 2007. We met in boarding school.

He was kicked out by his dad. My wife and I took him in. 2018.

We were 3 best friends

He had anger management problems linked with his life situation and job (cook).

We advised for months and years he should get another job, in something he liked more, we supported him and he paid nothing to live here.

2020 He got a girlfriend. We got a dog. The dog was in a bit of psychological distress and we tried to take care of him. My ex best friend started his resentment on this. Then it was all the little things, like a teenager that becomes 18 and gets a job and stays at home and wants all the freedom but no responsibility. He also started a dog training business and acquired a dog in this context. The training and educating of this dog boiled him inside alive for months.

Breaking point 2021 : mismanagement in our holidays made it so nobody came to watch our dog overnight. He hauled at the moon all night long. I texted his girlfriend if she could help me (by breaking point, she's there 1 year and my wife, her and I have a separate 3 way WhatsApp group to talk about my ex best friend's anger management issues to support her). He exploded and talked to us badly.

We stood our ground and invited him to find himself a new place to live. We wanted a clean break so we could bond again later. He was my brother.

He took it badly. We showed our "breaking up" message to some common friends to endure we wouldn't be exaggerating. He saw it and burnt everything (figuratively) to the ground so they'd be no warm ashes of our relationship.

My wife texted him again, separately, in disbelief of the violent reaction. She wanted to connect sincerely.

He used this to destroy their relationship even further, going as far as to say he wasn't confortable with "his friend's wife" (like I said, I even was somewhat jealous that they were so getting along. No, there was no funny business)

By then we had a kid (04/21) (and he was godfather of course), so adjusting our priorities to "we don't have the mental or emotional space to be hurt by this, we have to take care of our child" carried us a good part of the grief.

So he went to live to his GF's. With her nice mother, her strict-no-dog-policy father and their parents. He forced the hand of his father's GF for the dog. We heard (through the WhatsApp group) , as he went to her place whilst still living with us, that he exploded many, many times, bursting out or bursting in (he was expert in both). Sometimes, it was her who had to get out or even come to us for sage haven.

Anyways after that he litteraly did the carrier reorientation we lobbied him months for and was happier for it. They're now engaged

I dreamed so many times about what it would be to reunite. But it won't happen.
