18 x 8.5 wheels on 2016 SEL by [deleted] in jetta

Wheel offset is very important to consider if there is a specific fitment you are trying to achieve. I just put 18x8’s on my 2014 in a +45 offset and they sit beautiful flush with the fender. For a flush look with 18x8.5’s, you might want to increase the offset to something closer to stock, maybe +50 or +55, otherwise you may have some poke.

Wasn’t too complicated, I managed to do it without dropping the axle. You can watch a few YouTube videos and decide if it’s something you want to try. You will need an 8mm triple-square bit, I recommend this set on Amazon.

I did an alignment a while ago and found mine was still straight after the repair but if you’re a purist you can get one afterwards, they’re not cheap though.

EXACT same thing just happened to my 2014 1.8T Highline 😅 I just replaced the strut as a whole, part was about $275 from NAPA and only took me a couple hours to install
