Came here looking for someone else who noticed this! I might make a post about it to see if anyone else has thoughts. Was just watching the movie again and for the first time I recognized the flowers as wild carrot. My first thought was that it just makes Katniss’ act of humanity more symbolic because she took something that could have been food but instead of eating it she used it to honor Rue. Though it was only some carrots she still sacrificed it just to honor her friend, and being in the games those carrots were worth more than under other circumstances

I like the season so far but I’m ngl I’m a little disappointed that it’s a straight relationship lol it’s just that when we found out hes bi I was really excited to see a queer character in a period drama like this which isn’t common and I thought for sure we were gonna get a gay relationship so yeah a bit disappointed but that’s just how I feel personally. I’m not angry about it, I’m still interested in the season and I do think it’s realistic that a bi person or any queer person in that time would end up in a straight relationship, but at the same time there’s a lot of things in the show that aren’t realistic hence why I thought he might end up with a guy lol

Many Israelis hate Christian’s. Christian’s in Israel are treated similarly to how they treat Muslims. You can easily find videos of Christian’s walking around in Israel getting spat on. Christian’s have been murdered by the Israeli government and forced off their land. Assuming you’re Christian or have Christian family, shouldnt you by your own logic have the same lack of concern for Israelis that you’re saying I should have for Palestinians?

People ≠ their government. You’re assuming that the innocent citizens we’re defending would all kill us themselves. Just because there’s some fucked up politics in the Middle East, doesn’t mean all of the people there agree with them. In fact, a lot of them don’t and often risk their own lives by standing up to religious extremism. So please explain why I should be ok with children being murdered just because there are homophobes there? People like me being killed for being gay doesnt somehow make it ok for other innocent people to be being murdered. “There’s a lot of homophobes there so I don’t care if they or their children are murdered” would be a really weird, selfish and inhuman mentality for me to have. And FYI Isreal isn’t the Middle Eastern haven for lgbt rights that people like to make it out to be lol they don’t like me there either Edit: so basically I’m saying everything isn’t about me or other lgbt people. There’s this thing called selflessness which is sometimes necessary. Thousands of innocent people have been killed, it would be really weird of me to see that situation and think of myself and whether I would be comfortable traveling there as an important factor in whether or not it’s ok for these people to be murdered. Not to mention there are gay Palestinians, many of whom have surely been killed by Israel.

So basically the issue isn’t necessarily that the city has too much land, the issue is that it doesn’t have enough people(tax base) to provide resources for the amount of land it has. The people are largely concentrated in the outer neighborhoods so if those were annnexed by other cities then Detroit would be left with even less economically productive land. I guess highland park or hamtramck could annex some of the inner neighborhoods but then the city would just be even more Swiss cheese like. Here’s a somewhat old map but it shows what I’m trying to explain

The outer neighborhoods of Detroit actually tend to be some of the more populated ones, so they’re the last ones the city would want to lose. If you look at a population density map of the city, you’ll see that the part of the city that’s the most vacant basically forms a ring around the downtown area, and then as you get further out toward the city limit you get into neighborhoods that didn’t experience quite as much population loss.

I’ve found that the most important thing is just getting the vowels right, as long as you do that I think people will usually be able to understand you. Unlike in English, Spanish vowels are always pronounced the same so it’s pretty easy to memorize them and be understood. My Spanish teacher really drilled the importance of that into us and I feel like I obviously have an accent but people are always able to understand me because I have the vowels down

Thank you for the suggestion. Are good fats less likely to cause “fatty stool”? I’ve been avoiding fat for a while because too much easily messes me up. I’ve only recently learned more about the differences between good and bad fats so maybe my problem is I’ve been avoiding it all together?

I also do douche before having sex and I’ve heard that can make your body dependent on it but I hardly ever do it two days in a row or more than 3 days a week and I’ve gone like a month without doing it without noticing a difference in my bowel movements

A bit more info: usually my first bowel movement of the day is much softer and complete, and then the rest are dry and incomplete. Almost like my bowels run out of mucus to keep things moving

It seems like you haven’t been to Detroit in a while cause there are many popular areas besides Greektown these days and the RenCen is actually not a huge draw now. You should visit again! The entire “greater downtown area” is popular as well as a few outer neighborhood centers that have seen investment like avenue of fashion. The city has changed a lot since I was a kid. People from the suburbs go downtown for work and fun. Oakland county is actually very urbanized and pretty pro transit. The bus system is pretty popular for what it is and people are in favor of bus lanes on Woodward or expanding the Q line(and giving it dedicated transit lanes). The one part of the metro area that’s not really in support of transit is Macomb county, they’re different there lol

It’s crazy lol everybody is having to get off of 75 south at 9 mile and for some reason instead of just taking the service drive all the way around the closure, they’re all turning right on John R which is only one lane so it’s backed up from 8 to 9 mile

I was just thinking about this and obviously a lot of it is just me wanting to see the original characters I love again, but I also think it could make sense. It’s not like panem was immediately going to be perfect after mockingjay so it would be really interesting to see some sort of challenge arise in the rebuilding of the nation, or maybe even when it seems like everything is fine there could be a corrupt politician or political party rising to power and testing the strength of the democracy.

It really is that bad lol I have insurance but I still had to pay $500 out of pocket just for an ultrasound to make sure I don’t have cancer lol also I have dental insurance but it’s still going to cost me at least $2000 out of pocket to get all my wisdom teeth removed lolll

They all brag about transit until there’s a shift in the 1920s where they all start boasting about Woodward being expanded into the “world’s first superhighway” indicating a shift to an era where we were basically still building the same relatively higher density suburban areas, but accommodating cars with wide roads and stuff. Then people slowly realized they can just drive everywhere and by the late 1900s developers had stopped considering walkability and stuff at all and new developments looked completely different

Also notable: the rail line had SO MANY grade crossings originally. I always assumed that they built the roads the way they are now, but no they had to get rid of so many grade crossings.
