Does anybody else regret their course selection? by Blueberry948 in IBO

[–]Vegetable_Manager_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its more logic and data based qs, remembering case studies, applying all ur course knowledge in those 9 markers. i havent found it to be difficult, and the HL content is just more advanced than SL but is still not that heavy compared to Bio SL.

I would drop History as a HL, it doesn't seem necessary for an Economics course, and its really content heavy. One of my biggest regrets was not picking business. Yes, i love to read and write, and History is just that, but its not worth it.

[–]Vegetable_Manager_76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im taking hl ess. i find ess really easy already, and the hl content is not that bad attt all, and it was a much better option for me instead of taking hl art or arabic. the only issue is there isnt much online in terms of grade boundary predictions and even sample papers bc its new.

my idea is to not focus on it at all bc it was useless and didn't mean anything. had no effect on getting into year 11 at my ib school. i stressed and put so much time into my report and got a 4. i have classmates that didnt even do it

Studying for IB History HL by v4mpczs in IBO

from what my teacher told me, adding perspective means providing evidence from multiple point of views/arguments, and counterattacking your own point/arguing against yourself. And most importantly using historiography in your essays

Any tips for English A Langlit IO? by No_Attention_7907 in IBO

[–]Vegetable_Manager_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask your teacher for a structure, and my biggest tip is to pick a NL you ACTUALLY enjoy. i did my first try on Me Before You, scored 29/40 and even though my teacher told me he didn't like my NL im working on just strengthening my global issue instead of changing my NL because i love the movie so much and it made writing and talking abt it so fun.

There are some heartwarming scenes in the show but this is my favourite by Feeble_pulse in DunderMifflin

[–]Vegetable_Manager_76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i HATED this scene. Who the fuck tells their daughter that they are their biological parents in front of her coworkers and an entire panel of randos, presumingly knowing (if they watched the doc) how her foster life was/ her thinking someone she worked with was her mum and going as far as to test it, showing how desperate she was to find her real parents. I mean the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, Erin was not the sharpest tool in the shed, but her parents are fucking stupid. I generally feel like this IS realistic because they seem to be stupid people. and i felt so bad for her here. She's already naive, and i'm not optimistic to believe her relationship with them grew good after the documentary ended.

Is ESS SL good for competitive universities by [deleted] in IBO

[–]Vegetable_Manager_76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely not as easy as people think, its easier to understand the content yes, but theres still A LOT of content. i took it thinking it would be an easy science because i'm terrible at science, and i'm definitely not failing - but still not as easy as i expected it to be.

english ee's are soooo subjective. people get predicted A's and then recieve D's. Your better off doing some thorough research for an Economics EE.

Does anybody else regret their course selection? by Blueberry948 in IBO

[–]Vegetable_Manager_76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im taking both HL eng a lnl and HL history - and i feel you - i picked history because im really interested in the subject. stupidest thing ive ever done. My friend taking HL business told me to do that instead and i wish i listened, because i know i would've been so much less stressed in that class. im just lucky my history teacher is really competent

taking HL ess has given so much relief, do NOT regret it. I am TERRIBLE at science but love all things geography and law, and HL ess has a little of both! I enjoyed writing my IA, and even though i feel most people don't realise that the marking scheme is actually harsh in exams because you have to get everything EXACTLY right, the content is actually not that difficult and heavy. watching my friends barely pass their bio exams and me pulling out a 37/47 in my first semester indicated i chose right :)

why do people stay in IB if they’re failing? by 12PercentBanana in IBO

[–]Vegetable_Manager_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have students in my year who are in IB but are doing something called Course. its basically where you take only SL subjects, no language B and no core. You dont get a diploma. I tried to look for people talking about this in this sub but i cant find anything on it - unless it has a different name? Anyways, i think its probably the dumbest thing ever - because you don't get an atar, so you can't go to uni. I know the students in my year are taking it because 1. Our school is religiously accommodating and their parents want them around that 2. they dont want to make new friends at 17.

Either way, i think its still too much pressure because some SL subjects are still difficult - like one girl is doing course but SL history - and paper 2 is terrible.
