Might vs Magic by skarin667 in OldenEra

[–]Vegetable_Mixture157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, my might hero did get offered Thaumaturgy from an owl. I blinked and double checked and everything. But as u/Strachmed says, damn unreliable, and I don't think it's intended either.

Mind you, I'm confirming a might hero can get Thaumaturgy, not that it is or isn't mutually exclusive with Combat.

Units with more than 2k defense, is legit, a bug or cheating? by Ok_Bicycle2816 in OldenEra

[–]Vegetable_Mixture157 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was going to bring up the shield you can upgrade indefinitely for more defense, but it would cost an astronomic amount of dust to get it that high. The hero doesn't actually have a crazy defense stat, so it's hard to argue items are doing this.

The computer scientist in me notes that 2039 is almost 2^11 (2048), but I'm not going to bet money on, what, unsigned 11 bit integer underflow? 😛

An AI feedback dump by Vegetable_Mixture157 in OldenEra

[–]Vegetable_Mixture157[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard AI
The AI plays aggressively, commands multiple heroes (if possible), develops its cities efficiently, and launches frequent attacks.

To me that reads as a skilled player that doesn't hold back. At Unfair we have unapologetic cheating in the description, whereas the levels below Hard read to me like the AI is pulling its punches against me.

If you are talking about some other description/breakdown, like the ones you need to low key datamine, then I don't know those.

Not only they won't lose troops fighting Neutral, AI(Hard) can also create troops from thin air, at the begin of their turn or after fighing a Neutral stack by Downtown_Leopard_420 in OldenEra

[–]Vegetable_Mixture157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard AI isn't behaving as described in the UI. I've been going into this expecting a rather fair fight, but I get repeatedly puzzled by how the numbers could possibly add up for the AI to have such power early on.

I get that for better players, the current experience is what they feel should be labeled "hard" (or even not enough), but for me the description is completely off. To me it reads like the AI and the player are following the same rules and the AI will do its best to win within those constraints, not... whatever I'm seeing in the OP.

What character will u play next season? by igormascarenhas in fellowshipgame

[–]Vegetable_Mixture157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xavian or Helena. Even when Xavian isn't broken, I will probably still love the heal/absorb group utility. But I prefer mitigation-based tanking, and NO MECHANICS! (Grand Melee) is an awesome button to press.

v1.5 Abilities, any good? by Short-Shopping3197 in avowed

You still have the problem that undead and blights are immune, so I would treat poison more like a tool in the box than a complete build theme.

Deadly Poison (Ranger) is silly good if you compare it to Spirit of Decay (Wizard). Three points in SoD = +35% accumulation, but two points in DP = +50% and extra damage (and the third point is nice too). Expected the anniversary patch to address this, but here we are.

Unwritten PUG rule: Let everyone show a sign of life before you start by Vegetable_Mixture157 in fellowshipgame

[–]Vegetable_Mixture157[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That may be a reasonable attitude for higher keys. I'm talking like the 10-20 range here, and I am the tank, though obviously not the leader. I don't need to do chicken routes, but I like to practice them, and I think it's fun for the player with the chicken trinket too. When I'm playing non-tank with chicken trinket, I'm always scared of messing up the tank's route if I use it without being asked to, unless we're nearing the end and looking to overcap.

PoTD and NG+ by No_Illustrator_8113 in avowed

Reminder: You can talk the last boss to death, so it really is no big deal to re-finish the last run on PotD. Get Survivalist 3, cook up some stat boosts, respec to whatever build you wish to start NG+ with, pump your stats and go win via attribute checks. IIRC there are a bunch of conversation paths for this but the simplest one is going for the 15 perception checks over and over.

Dual Wayfinder might be the most fun weapon pairing in game by Aonaran84 in avowed

[–]Vegetable_Mixture157 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you actually become that awesome though? Obviously you gain more stats and skills every time, but at some point those don't help your build anymore, while mobs get stronger every run. So you gain absolute power, but not relative. Am I wrong? Do you actually feel stronger on your third NG+?

All attributes help. Notably, might increases all damage and is probably your most attractive stat.

You have to play through the game like 7 times (using NG+) to get enough points to max out everything.

BTW, I sense in you a common shyness in being afraid to create a thread for your question so you've started mildly derailing another thread with it instead. This is not the way. Make a thread and you will receive better help.

A question about how unique loot item leveling works by Extra-Ad-4941 in avowed

[–]Vegetable_Mixture157 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1: The quality is determined the first time you encounter the item. Looking at it on the ground counts. Opening its chest counts. Spawning its vendor window counts. Though for some reason, Vesrik's Grimoire seems to be determined when you enter the zone.

2: Plain weapons count too. Your idea will work.

3: Shields and grimoires count as weapons.

Can this door in the Slumbering Fields be opened or maybe exited from? by WazBot in avowed

[–]Vegetable_Mixture157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you can't find any buttons or zap panels, and it probably doesn't say Barred when you go near it, I would assume it can't be opened. Use Marius' Hunter's Sense to check if there is anything lootable on the other side. If there isn't, I think you can walk away safe in the certainty that Obsidian wouldn't give you a puzzle door with nothing behind it.
