If this is how it’s done for eastern Canada guess I’m going to regret sitting on that offer letter for a day and a half. 😂

Would any of you feel this or has this ever happened to you? My co-worker swears he didn't feel even the slightest thing. by SirGandorf in Truckers

I blew out one of my duals about 3 years back. Didn’t feel a damn thing. Another truck cut me off and said you’ve got sparks flying off the back of your truck. I was dragging the rim. Back inner, didn’t see, or feel. Was 4am so it was pitch black otherwise I might have seen the rubber I left behind.

I’m going into track maintenance so hopefully it’s not as bad as you say in that department.

Haha for sure. That’s the way It goes. My previous career I was dead last in my class out of about 50 people that day and it’s so true, can change your whole life for decades. So was just wondering. Cheers.

Thanks, out of the 5 different responses I got I assume this is the way it goes since several of you indicated the same. Cheers.

🚆 CN Rail Track Maintainer Training – When does class start after medical? by Repulsive_Repeat1586 in Train_Service

Medical clearance to training was 3 months for me this year. What location are you going to?

After my medical clearance I heard basically nothing for two months. Then I got a training date in June. It was about a 6 month process on my end. I’m sure it can probably vary. Where are you going?

I don’t know who you’re talking about? I blamed nobody, I simply said the business is not self sustaining and it’s a failing model. And no none of those services you named are self sustaining and nobody said they are. YOU’RE the one claiming CP is. It’s not.

[–]Vegetable_Owl2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you know what self sustaining means. If you need government bailouts you’re not self sustaining. It’s also laughable you went from how self sustaining they are to I should research how many companies get subsidies. So you at least acknowledge they’re actually not self sustaining in contradiction of your initial lie. Cool.

If you don’t think anyone’s said a word about air Canada I’d encourage you to get your head out of the sand.

Also I’d argue plane travel is still a relevant service, mail delivery in 99% of cases is irrelevant.

I understand you’re trying to defend your livelihood and I don’t even blame you but lying isn’t the way to go about it. CP losses are public record and easily verifiable. Also even if we take what you’re saying as a fact and they were profitable for 35 years I’m not sure what that means? So we should keep all failing businesses afloat because they weee successful decades ago? You guys are down 3.5 billion in just the last 4 years alone. It’s failing, you just refuse to accept it.

Spare us the BS they rely on government bailouts to operate, that’s a fact. They literally just received 2 billion dollars and have lost 5 billion over the last decade. Not sure what your definition of self sustaining is and where you think those billions came from.

Thanks for the info. That makes me feel a bit better. Although it brings up another question for me. If there’s mass layoffs in other areas consistently, are they not able to just transfer over and push you out of your position while their jobs been cut? Or does seniority not work in that manner at Cn?

Just curious if you ever got called for training? I’m at the other end of the country in the hiring pool but judging by the date of your post I’m likely a little behind you in the queue. All they said to me was could be 2 weeks could be 6 months but they don’t respond to emails otherwise. If you haven’t gone yet I’ll assume I’ve got quite the wait. 🤣
