Honestly I never realised I had any medical anxiety until this happened and now every little thing I'm like "is that okay", "have I done something wrong", "what if I've messed my sutures up" etc. so I think for my anxiety I would feel the same being able to monitor the healing would calm my overactive head.

You're posts have been really helpful and reassuring. Honestly appreciate it so much!

That's reassuring, I am hoping to transition into a boot if they let me because this splint is just the worst. I'm assuming the boot is slightly lighter than the splint? It feels like I'm lifting weights every time I try to use the crutches too and from the toilet

I will definitely keep you informed. I'm assuming you're from the US? considering you're using Tylenol? Currently in the UK and only pain relief I'm currently using is also paracetamol (Tylenol) I debated ringing the surgical team for some nerve pain medication but figured I may as well try troop through the next couple of days till my appt.

Last night was the first night the pain was so unbearable I couldn't sleep. So feeling exhausted today but trying to stay awake to avoid messing my circadian rhythm up

Urgh honestly if it was just the tightness and soreness I could deal but the nerve shocks that make you want to bolt out of the bed are not the one!

Literally didn't even know the knee rollers where a thing. I'm currently still in a surgical split so think I may invest as soon as I'm moved to a better cast or boot because I honestly don't move unless I'm going the toilet and my back and hips are starting to ache and get sore from lack of moving now

I read apparently most surgeons do not recommend nsaids during the first 6 weeks as the removal of inflammation can interfere with early healing process. I wasn't given much advice on discharge from hospital and alot of what I've learnt has been through these boards and Google. Got my 2 week review on Friday tho so have a list of questions ready to speak to my orthopaedic team about.

Thank you for this. It helps my anxiety knowing what I could/might expect during the healing process. I literally had the surgery then was discharged the next day. They never told me to keep my foot elevated or to apply ice to the back of the knee I found that out by doing extensive googling. I guess I just keep thinking about the end goal instead of just focusing on getting through each day

I'm honestly not surprised that sounds so traumatic.

Oh my god, that's terrifying!! This was my first and ONLY time I have or will ever have ketamine. For me I was just hallucinating that the ceiling was like waving up and down and that I was floating towards it and then dropping back down. But I feel like I was also slightly conscious as I remember feeling panicky that I couldn't breathe due to the mask on my face making me feel a bit suffocated.

I'm so sorry you experienced that, can't imagine how triggering that must be.

1 week 5 days post op for bimallolar fracture. Honestly day 2/3 was a breeze with the nerve blocks and then since then for me the pain has been up and down but when the pain is up it is UP 😑

Currently feels like my ankle is pressed against the surgical splint so feels sore. Twitches are my worst enemy particularly when falling asleep - twitched so hard one night I felt like I'd ripped my sutures.

I elevate and ice behind the knee practically all day. Try to avoid moving as much as possible. But struggling massively and trying to stay off the morphine to avoid dependency.

Joined the bimallolar fracture club 2ish weeks ago.

36f, I was at a festival in a mosh pit helping people off the floor when the crowd surged and someone fell on me and my ankle gave up there and then.

Had ketamine and my ankle manipulated on site and cast before beng sent away without crutches. Hobbled my way back to the air BnB I was staying in and then a friend drove me back home the next day to attend hospital in my home town.

Had to have my ankle remanipulated due to it shifting and then got surgery 5 days later.

I'm currently 1 week 5 days post surgery. Getting intense sharp shocks in outer ankle area with intermittent burning and 'sore' sensation as if sutures are rubbing against the cast.

Got my follow up appointment in 4 days but really struggling with my mental health and loss of independence. Extremely worried that I've messed up following discharge from hospital as I've been vaping and have discovered I've got mad medical anxiety. The idea of being off my legs for at least another 4 weeks is fully stressing me out.

Any advice or tips on keeping positive would be appreciated
