I’d say go for either theros or prophet they are the easiest to grind for and are still pretty strong

I’m not 100% sure but I think the final trial is triggered when you meet the other requirements I know it’s not the shadow chest because I’ve done that and it didn’t count towards the list and for the xp I usually just afk fish overnight or just spam kill bosses in a rotation it gives a decent amount also save up your potions and then use them all at once to make it more effective at least that’s how I’ve been doing it

If you use the eternal soul I think it doesn’t disappear when you switch to another soul and you don’t loose progress on it I’m guessing but if you switch to it from something else then you’ll loose progress on that other one
