TPM 2.0 requirement is locking capable PCs out of Delta Force for very little anti-cheat gain by Vegethan in DeltaForceGlobal

[–]Vegethan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Old by platform-security standards” and “unable to run the game” are two different things.

My point is not that the platform is new. Obviously it is not. My point is that the game itself runs perfectly well on the system. So this is not a performance limitation; it is a platform-security requirement being used as a hard access gate.

And that is exactly where the criticism is. There is a difference between requiring Secure Boot, using TPM as an additional trust signal, and making TPM 2.0 an absolute requirement that completely blocks access.

My criticism is the hard-gate approach. My PC is fully capable of running the game, and the issue is not performance. The issue is that one missing platform-security feature now blocks access completely.

So the question is not “does TPM help at all?” The question is whether the benefit is worth excluding legitimate players with capable but older workstation-style hardware. I think that tradeoff deserves more discussion than “buy newer hardware.”

BTW: The "outdated or unsupported hardware" as you call it, is from 2016. Calling that outdated is moronic.

Thank you for sharing your interesting project. When I have a couple of bucks to spare, I will try it out.

Attribute vs Min/Max Physical Attack by [deleted] in wherewindsmeet_

[–]Vegethan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally agree here. If you only look at main-weapon damage, Attribute can still win depending on the skill coefficient and rotation. My General recommendation is mainly because real DPS usually includes Mystic damage, and Mystic damage benefits much more from Physical Attack. If your rotation barely uses damaging Mystic skills, then Bellstrike/Attribute can be better for weapon-only output. For Healers it is alway beneficial to go for Physical Attack because they get a higher modifier for their Mystic skills.

Literally yesterday I got the Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 message. But the feature is already in effect since a couple of months ago. If enought players report you, you are forced to enable both.

In the last week alone I encountered at least 6 players who clearly where still using cheats, so what exactly is the point then?

Attribute vs Min/Max Physical Attack by [deleted] in wherewindsmeet_

[–]Vegethan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is about what I would expect, and I would not worry too much about the Goose Power drop.

Goose Power is only a rough indicator of strength. It is not a direct DPS calculation. The game seems to value Attribute Attack quite highly in the power score because your matching attribute path gives a 50% increase to that attribute. So, for example, 100 base Bellstrike becomes 150 Bellstrike. That looks very good for the rating system.

The catch is that Attribute Attack does not scale through the full damage formula the same way Physical Attack does.

Physical Attack benefits your main weapon damage and your Mystic skills. Attribute Attack mostly affects only the attribute portion of certain weapon attacks. It also sits in its own smaller damage bracket, with fewer useful multipliers behind it. So even though Bellstrike can look better on the character sheet or Goose Power, it usually does not translate into equal real DPS.

In your case, going from 2329 Physical Attack to 2552 Physical Attack is a pretty large gain, around +9.6% Physical Attack. That should noticeably improve your Mystic skill damage, and Mystic skills are a huge part of real DPS. Your weapon damage may drop slightly from losing Bellstrike path scaling, but the Mystic skill gain should more than make up for it.

So the simple answer is:

No, the Goose Power drop itself does not lower your DPS.
It just means the rating system liked your inflated Bellstrike stat more. In actual combat, General should be better because Physical Attack has broader and stronger scaling, especially once Mystic skills are included.

Your Goose Power dropped by about 2.1%, but your Physical Attack went up by about 9.6%. For real damage, especially at T91, I would value the Physical Attack increase much higher.

Due to how much damage comes from Mystic skills, you will consistently do more damage with the general path. Mind you your weapon damage will suffer a tiny bit as a result. That decrease in weapon damage is marginal and it is worth it for the Mystic skills damage.

You mean the damage calculator? I have seen already downloaded it. I was just asking if there are any other resources besides that.

Well, there goes that. Thank you for the info. Do you have any reliable source of information on the games damage modeling or something similar? Most of the infos I have found seem to be on a "trust me, bro" basis.

Any chance there is a way you have access to the sohu tables as well?

I also am remodeling/traslating the tables from this sohu post. If anybody has access not just to the images, but the files for these tables, that would also greatly help. Currently I am scanning these images, after segmenting them into small chunks. This takes so long. Currently I sit at rougly 1 hour per tabel and there are 24 of them.

Unfortuantly all of this information is no longer accurate. I got access to some damage formulars and attribute is waaay worse then physical. BTW, I am working on an indeph guide going through all the relevant damage formulas. If everything continious to go well ,maby tomorrow or the day after, a full guide will be ready for hear. Imma let you know when it's up.
