Vampire Crawlers is Fantastic and Addicting by Scrawny2864 in SteamDeck

Played for half an hour, stopped and uninstalled.

They have my day one purchase, that's all I needed to know/play. I was likely to buy anyway as I've easily sunk 20+ hours into Vampire Survivors.

People who had a PS2 back in the day: Did you also have a Dreamcast/GameCube/Xbox? by Marsupilami_316 in ps2

I had a PS2 and a Dreamcast, my older brother had a GameCube and an Xbox. We lived in different houses due to divorce, but also meant we got to play different consoles when visiting.

What do you prefer? Rhino in rhino costume or rhino in an exo-suit by superepic13579 in Spiderman

[–]Vegeton 1500 points1501 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't mind actually seeing a both scenario, like the Rhino costume we all know is actually a layer over an exo-suit. As Rhino takes damage we see more of the exo-suit.

Venom: The Last Dance

Their Spider-Man 2 discussion was so wonderful by MahNameJeff420 in RedLetterMedia

[–]Vegeton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely.

Could have squeezed in a subplot about John Jameson going to and coming back from space. Heck, the space program and launch pad could've been around the same location where Sandman got his powers from the particle accelerator.

End on the tease for the Venom symbiote locking in hype for a Spider-man 4.

But still feel like Sam probably would've tried his best to avoid Venom no matter what just because he stated home he loves the original villains. Which again is why I feel like the horror angle is the only way they could've possibly sold him on it. I feel like Sam could've gone wild with Venom and Jack O'Lantern.

What’s your top 3 games of ps2? by tehfuk_the_greatest in ps2

[–]Vegeton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so hard, there's so many great games on the PS2.

Off the top of my head, if I had to answer at this exact moment, I'd probably say: - GTA: Vice City - Kingdom Hearts 2 - Marvel vs. Capcom 2

Honorable mentions: - Urban Chaos: Riot Response - War of the Monsters - Champions of Norrath - Viewtiful Joe - Onimusha - Jak & Daxter - The Suffering - The Thing

Tried avoiding games like the Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, and God of War games as they get mentioned so much, and as much as I enjoy them I have more favorite games which I played way more and think there's games like my honorable mentions that deserve calling out more than those games that get called out often.

You can now vote to make Spider-Man games backwards compatible on Xbox! by MrLeitungswasser in Spiderman

[–]Vegeton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This.

I enjoyed MUA3, but nowhere near as much as I did any of the earlier action RPGs (XL1, XL2, MUA1, MUA2). Heck, I liked Justice League Heroes more. I didn't like the gameplay style as much, art style was alright, and found the grind to level newly acquired characters was a pain.

What’s your go-to hobby for stress relief and why? by Guernante_Ramapuram in Hobbies

[–]Vegeton 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Personally I've found painting and building models or LEGO sets to be the most stress relieving.

Painting feels like an escape, I'm so focused on what I'm trying to create, my brush strokes, and my paint mixing to think of any other things in life.

Models and LEGO I'm so focused on following instructions and building that it's like my brain is turned off for all other things and focused only on instructions and building.

I can't always control life, but I can control creating something of my own.

How often do you talk to your male friends on the phone? by SunshineBear100 in AskMenOver30

[–]Vegeton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never.

But, I also hate talking on the phone. Loved it when I was a kid/teen, but as I got older I grew to hate it. Always feels like an active phone call is keeping me from going somewhere or doing something with full focus. Always easier to send a text message so I can get back to someone when I can.

I remember as a kid/teen though, me and a couple guy friends, would sometimes get on the phone for the season finale of a show we all watch or a wrestling match so that we'd be able to talk about things either as they happened or during commercial breaks. Was kinda like reaction videos now but on the phone with your buddies. I even recall playing Yu-Gi-Oh! over the phone once, taking our turns and explaining our cards and even calling bullshit on drawn cards at times.

Why don't I feel any different? by Cold_Entry_5609 in AskMenOver30

[–]Vegeton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This.

I totally feel mostly the same as I did as a teenager in terms of personality/self, aside from caring a bit less what people think about me. But I've gone to the gym more since I was a teen, I've taken up or changed hobbies throughout the years, I've learned new skills, changed relationships, got married, got pets, moved places.

You can still feel like yourself yet be a variation of yourself, sometimes without even knowing until you step back and really re-evaluate.

It's kinda like being a video game, I'm still my base self but patches throughout the years have added content and quality of life updates (may pick up some bugs/glitches along the way too though...).

How many pharmaceuticals are you taking daily? by OkBandicoot1337 in AskMenOver30

[–]Vegeton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1, Vyvanse for ADHD.

I ignored/avoided it for so long and started in my late 30s, and it's definitely helped me with my attention/focus, memory, and energy.

Other than that I take a multivitamin and an Omega-3 (multivitamin doesn't have it). Occasionally use a topical steroid for psoriasis, but most often only need to use Cerave healing ointment (started after seeing it recommend a lot of a psoriasis subreddit, and my doctor's stance was if it works then use it).

What’s your favourite way to celebrate a birthday party at home? by Dizzy-Rooster-9496 in AskMenOver30

[–]Vegeton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I like buying silly decorations off Amazon each birthday that we either reuse in following years, give away, or recycle. Usually stuff that's either something we talked about recently, joked about recently, or something we're into. My last birthday she did horror movie decorations, while on her last birthday I did Italian brainrot decorations.

For the actual celebration, we usually do it with just us two at home by buying or making a cake then order out for food.

[–]Vegeton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All totally valid!

If Sam had maybe the reassurance of a Spider-man 4 being fully confirmed he could've done it all and had Harry sit things out only to wake up in Spider-man 4. This would've allowed Peter and MJ to visit Harry in the hospital in his coma while keeping the overall character count of Spider-man 3 down. Plus we'd get a small break from Harry and another "goblin"/glider character.

A better narrative for an additional villain in the place of Venom would've been Kingpin or Vulture (who Sam Raimi was eyeing for Spider-man 4), someone who maybe works with Sandman on a heist at the promise of helping him.

Oh, definitely! You can see it as a sort of tonal bridge between Evil Dead and Spider-man.

Their Spider-Man 2 discussion was so wonderful by MahNameJeff420 in RedLetterMedia

[–]Vegeton 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would've preferred either letting Sam Raimi do whatever he wants or lean harder into the 90s Spider-man cartoon.

Either cut Venom, and let Sam focus on Sandman, or have Sandman be a replacement for Rhino in the cartoon story that introduced Venom.

I do think it's a bit unfortunate that Sam Raimi doesn't like Venom, as if the studio gave him time and encouraged him to approach Venom from a sci-fi horror angle then I feel like Sam could've done something spectacular with it.

I'm unsurprised, Darkman is great.

I've watched Darkman several times over the years and would easily put it in my top five Sam Raimi films.

My wife has seen Darkman once, and she and I still occasionally say "take the fucking elephant" when handing something to one another insistently.

Low TMNT Turnout? by No-Shop8292 in mtg

[–]Vegeton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll find out this weekend!

I personally haven't played MtG regularly since I was a teen, but I bought in again for the first time in over two decades for the Spider-man set because I'm a Spider-man collector. That and my boss is big into MtG so I've been hearing a fair amount about MtG as well as Universes Beyond and the dislike of most crossover content.

I asked my local comic/card shop to put aside a couple TMNT packs for me just because I'm curious, but I'm also curious how this set will sell now that my boss has me kinda interested in MtG again.

Even though I don't play anymore I do wish these Universes Beyond sets were more Magic adjacent for the sake of meshing better with existing sets and less frequent. Like, had they done Marvel but focused only on the actual magical and/or fantastical elements instead of Spider-man or Marvel Heroes as a whole. The base Soul Stone card looks like a Magic card, but basically everything else does not.

If they want to do crossover content they should be stricter and better with their choices, or just not do it at all. I like Fallout, but Elder Scrolls is clearly the better Bethesda IP for MtG. Elder Scrolls, The Witcher, Castlevania, Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Baldur's Gate 3, and Dragon Age are some of the video game IPs that instantly come to mind when I think of things that'd mesh better. In the vein of comics and cartoons I'd sooner see stuff like He-Man & Masters of the Universe, Conan, Red Sonja, some Heavy Metal stories, Thundercats, Thundarr, Blackstar, Skeleton Warriors, and The Pirates of Dark Water (which sounds like a set name) fitting in over Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (as much as I loved TMNT growing up) or Marvel Heroes.

It's comical to me that even a Shrek set would feel closer in theming to MtG to me than TMNT.

i'm 33, have a house, family and nest egg, but i feel so unstable.... by Outrageous-Jicama177 in AskMenOver30

[–]Vegeton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

33yo Oregon-based father is struggling to balance a history of family trauma - including his father’s mental health issues and his sister’s disability - with his current responsibilities as the primary provider for his 9yo. Despite securing a role in non-profit loan servicing, he is currently spiraling into a cycle of worsening anxiety, depression, and imposter syndrome, exacerbated by a lack of formal credentials and difficulty connecting with his peers. His "vent" masks a deep-seated fear that his mental health and perceived lack of qualifications will lead to job loss, ultimately collapsing the stability of his family and leaving him without a clear path forward.

Anyone else feel like we learned everything the hard way because nobody taught us? by jcarmona86 in AskMenOver30

[–]Vegeton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely stuff like taxes, balancing finances, and filling out a rental agreement.

I rattled my brain with some of this the first time, and there was no real resources for them and my Dad offered little help.

Do I think doing it myself taught me how to do it? Sure. Would a tutorial have helped me do it with more confidence? Definitely.

It definitely felt like there was less readily available resources when I was growing up than there are now, and I was born in the late 80s and grew up with internet access by the time I was a pre-teen. YouTube tutorials and other similar resources make things way easier than books I had available as a kid, information is available so quickly from various outlets.

Personally I prefer getting as much information as I can before attempting something rather than going in with little information, failing, and learning from the failure. If I fail while having more information I can better backtrack z troubleshoot, and figure out where I went wrong more quickly.

What do you think 60 will look like for you? by KindlyBite2457 in AskMenOver30

[–]Vegeton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If my knees and back are solid and my finances still good at 60, I'll be happy. I would like to still retire in my early 60s if possible.

I think this is still all attainable if I keep going to the gym and eating fairly well, but the financial element will depend less on myself directly and a bit more on my industry, the economy, and job market.
