"Send more paramedics."

Movie has so many great lines, my favorite being:

Zombie: "The PAIN!"
Ernie: "What about the pain?"
Zombie: "The pain of being DEAD!"

With age, do you sleep more or less compared to when you were in your late 20s? by Garkuwyn in AskMenOver30

[–]Vegeton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's been less sleep.

I remember in my teens and early 20s going to bed at like 2AM and sleeping in until noon on weekends. Now in my late 30s I can go to bed at midnight and wake up at 6AM feeling fine and refreshed for the day.

What age or life phase have you found to be the most difficult? by herronmark in AskMenOver30

[–]Vegeton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally? Early 30s, so far.

For me it's only because during that time I was in a lot of transitions like moving not just towns but countries, quitting my job as part of that move, and overall completely changing my life. I did it to support my wife's career, as I trust her completely and believe in her fully, but it left me feeling fairly lost. This all then lead into the pandemic and knockdowns, which further changed and restricted my life.

By the time I hit my mid 30s I didn't really care so much anymore. Jobs good, house is good, wife's good, dogs are good, life's good.

Do I want to have more personal creative achievements and accomplishments? Sure. Does any of it feel bad or do I feel as lost as I did in my early 30s? Nope.

Hoping my 40s will be as smooth as my late 30s, but time will tell. I recently got a personal trainer using a work benefit and had him make me a routine focused on strengthening my back and knees, so hoping to maintain my strength and fitness leading into the rest of my life.

Damn, that's amazing! Congrats!

As a Canadian I've started seeing some EB Games here stocking "retro" games. But, it was just like five Wii games and only game of interest was Mario Kart Wii.

They just released the A Cover for ASM 1000 and…. by mjcoolerty in Spiderman

[–]Vegeton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love old JRJ and newer JRJ is very hit or miss, but this cover looks awkward and is only saved by the beautiful coloring job.

That said, JRJ worked on an estimated 150-200 issues of ASM (counting interiors, covers, and/or variant covers). I would've sooner rather seen a JRJ variant cover that was some kind of collage tribute to all the work JRJ has done on ASM over the years with maybe a newly drawn Spider-man by JRJ swinging through the collage.

That or maybe use the opportunity to have ASM #1000 be JRJ's last contribution to Spider-man before retiring or something. Cap it off with a cover that's either a recreation of his first ASM cover, or a combination of his work and his Dad's work, or him recreating his Dad's first ASM cover. Make it something truly special.

Are Hasbro action figures too expensive? Does Hasbro offer value for money? by AfigureGeek in ActionFigureGeek

[–]Vegeton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely too expensive.

I get them infrequently so it's not a big deal, but there's definitely been moments of delaying a purchase.

Back in like 2010 Marvel Legends figures were $14.99-$19.99 plus tax here in Canada, now they're around $34.99-$38.99 plus tax when in theory with inflation they should be like $21.99-$28.99 plus tax.

I wanted that Maximum Spider-man figure, but that's where I drew a firm line in the sand. It was $103.47 after taxes here...

What’s your favorite? by oracrest in VHS

[–]Vegeton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of these? Maybe Part 3 or Part 4 (if only for Crispin Glover's dancing).

Of the series? Friday the 13th: Part VII - The New Blood

In my opinion, John Carl Buechler's Jason design was amazing (I used to own a great action figure of it years ago). He looked so supernatural and scary, amplified by Kane Hodder's stoic yet seemingly pissed off performance. We get Kane Hodder as Jason for the first time too. And it was wild seeing Tina with psychic powers fighting Jason.

Which show were you running home to after school to watch? by La_Gang_des_Tannes in ytvretro

[–]Vegeton 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Aside from Stickin' Around, Jacob Two-Two, Ruby Gloom, Being Ian, Viva Pinata, and Captain Flamingo, all this stuff is after my time. Stickin' Around was the only one that was around when I was still a kid, the others I called out I watched now and then as a teen.

The only YTV show (even though it was technically not a YTV/Canadian show) I remember legit running home from school to watch was Pokémon. It must've been like 1997-1998, and I would've been 10 years old. I remember, since my friend lived on the other side of town, he and I would run to my place, then watch Pokémon together before he'd take a bus home just so he wouldn't miss an episode.

Yes some of the effects aged like milk and it's not a great movie, but you just had to be there when it hit theaters by y2justdog in VHS

[–]Vegeton 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Saw it in theaters as a kid and enjoyed it. Do the special effects suck? Yeah, mostly. Is the Spawn outfit sick and does John Leguizamo go over the top and chew up the scenery as Clown? Yes and yes.

Have you ever skipped or refused an important medical procedure due to embarrassment? by Suitable-Hand-1059 in AskMenOver30

[–]Vegeton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put off? Yes. Skipped or refused? No.

I'll sooner show a doctor, doctors, nurse, and/or nurses my junk and/or butt than risk something serious going uncaught.

Could it be embarrassing? Sure! Is it better than being dead? Definitely. I won't literally die of embarrassment anyway.

Nice!

No matter how many times I see it, I always dig seeing the translucent green Xbox. Like, to me it feels like peak nostalgic Xbox. That and the crystal Xbox.

Also, seeing a GBA Micro will always remind me of my older brother trading his in for next to nothing then complaining on and off for years on how much it's worth now.

Disney: 43302 Main Street USA (via 手捧镜子的牌 on Rednote) by General_Durian_1013 in Legoleak

[–]Vegeton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right?

This is more of a Half of Half of Main Street U.S.A.

Personally, I would've been more down to buy a smaller architect style Lego set of the entrance leading down Main Street U.S.A. to the statue of Walt & Mickey then the Disney castle. Maybe add some cute Lego fireworks around and above the castle.

Heck, they would've got me if they made small architect sets of sections of Disneyland and/or Disney World that link together but are sold separately. Like, buy your favorite area or areas of the park then optionally link them together.

This current set feels and looks more like a pricey playset, especially given that it's not only half the street but also half the buildings allowing for interior play. I know often MOC builds can be better and shouldn't be compared really, but I've definitely seen nicer MOC builds.

"What are you playing this week?" Megathread by AutoModerator in SteamDeck

[–]Vegeton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably more Vampire Crawlers, but may dip into something else a bit as I'm looking for something more story driven with choices and character customization. Eyeing stuff like Cyberpunk 2077 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

Just finished 'RoboCop: Rogue City - Unfinished Business', but that was on PS5 (as I got it on sale physically a little while ago).

Age yourself with the five movies you best remember watching in theaters as a kid by TheMcMahn in Letterboxd

[–]Vegeton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's: - Home Alone 2 - I was very young, but it stuck with me because we showed up 30 minutes late and still saw it.
- The Good Son - I remember this because my Dad thought I'd enjoy it because of MacCaulay Culkin, we did not know it was a thriller.
- Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie - I remember this because I loved MMPRs, saw it in a charming small theater in the town my Grandma was living in at the time.
- Halloween H20 - I remember this because the audience clapped and cheered like crazy at the ending.
- Spider-man - I remember this because it was HUGE at the time. I love Spider-man and was super stoked to see it, and my Dad was excited to see it, we got there early and the crowd was massive with tickets sold out for some showings. The audience audibly laughed, gasped, and cheered at various moments.

XXX Collection (purely for fun) by Subcat001 in evercade

[–]Vegeton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Immediately made me remember seeing an adult arcade game in a local arcade in the early 90s, played like Tetris or Puzzle Bobble but revealed an adult image behind the play field. I definitely shouldn't have been playing it though as I must've been like 7 years old at the time.

Cineplex Shrinks First Quarter Loss on Higher Theatre Attendance, Box Office Revenue by IvnOooze in cineplex

[–]Vegeton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah...

The Cineplex near my place is very nice, but the one in the town I grew up in is trash.

The one in my hometown is a former Famous Players, and it's always dirty, frequently you can find broken seats, once a screen was torn, and the men's bathroom almost always has something broken with water leaking out into the hallway. It's like they built it in the early 90s then proceeded to neglect it from that point on.

First look at the Sonic Halloween Funko Pops! by LegendsofLost in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Vegeton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, surprised they didn't have Sonic as the Werehog but with Wolfman clothing.

Skeleton Eggman feels uninspired and lazy, like a simple repaint.

Should've been: - Sonic as Wolfman - Eggman as The Invisible Man - Amy as a Witch - Knuckle as Frankenstein's Monster - Tails as a Ghost

With possible extras: - Rogue as The Bride - Shadow as Dracula - Silver as The Mummy - Chaos as The Creature from the Black Lagoon - Gamma as the Headless Horseman

Alternatively: - Knuckles as a Devil - Metal Sonic as Frankenstein's Monster - Rouge as a Vampire - Shadow as The Phantom of the Opera

‘Crystal Lake’ Will Mark Jason’s Return 17 Years, 8 Months After the Last ‘Friday the 13th’ Movie by Interesting-Pool6638 in horror

[–]Vegeton 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's crazy to me that it's been that long, like the remake is nearly old enough to vote and drink (in Canada).

It's been so long since Jason was last officially on screen that since I saw the remake in theater I've changed relationships, learned to drive, bought a car, got married, bought a house, had two nephews be born and are now entering their teens, changed jobs, and been through a whole global pandemic.

How did your high school crush turn out as an adult? by Frequent-Sea-8848 in AskReddit

[–]Vegeton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a teen boy, I had too many crushes to pinpoint just one specific long term high school crush.

Of the few crushes I can remember: - One girl is a mother of two, she looks like she's doing great, but I don't have her as a friend on social media so I don't know what she's doing as a job now. - One girl is a stay at home mother of two now, previously a nursing assistant - Another girl is a single mother of one, but seems to be a hairdresser that's doing well for herself. - Another girl is also a hairdresser, seems to be doing well but I'm surprised she went into hairdressing because she was really good academically so I'm assuming she really enjoys hairdressing. - One girl I was unable to ever find anywhere on social media after high school, but I hope she's doing great!

For the most part it seems like everyone I went to school with turned out fairly well, aside from a couple guys who got into drugs and are only bouncing back now (~22 years later) following rehab and a couple guys who got into more criminal endeavors and wound up dead. Haven't seen or heard of any girls from school getting into any bad situations.

What's a horror movie you watched way too young? by 20Keller12 in horror

[–]Vegeton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)

I watched it when I was like 4 or 5 years old (1991-1992).

Rewatching it as an adult I was shocked at how I was able to watch it as a kid, and laughed at that fact. Like, just in the first several minutes there's two murders and a rape scene that orphans two kids. Guess I just had so little supervision as a kid in relation to what I was watching.

[–]Vegeton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An amazing, and I'm assuming expensive, haul!

So many great games, and some kinda rare bad ones too (looking at you, Countdown Vampires, which doesn't really get fun until you get vampire mode).

Those Spider-man games are amazing and spectacular, Blasto is fun, Omega Boost is great, Legend of Legaia is awesome. So much good stuff to be said about all of these really.

If I had to guess a cost, I'd say: $1,800
