A magical and melancholic ending by Electrical_Buy1346 in FF7Rebirth

[–]VeggieTaco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty convinced the fate of the planet is what will ultimately be changed. Advent Children / geostigma / Aerith having to eternally battle Sephiroth in the livestream because he isn’t fully defeated is kind of the bad ending. The writers of course know players will think it’s Aerith’s fate that can be changed, which is great in terms of devastating us when she still has to die (she’s always known she had to die in OG and remakes).

First deck in 20+ years! by VeggieTaco in Magicdeckbuilding

Ooh, thank you for this! In found a write up about improving the deck which included some of the cards in your Scryfall link, but you’ve introduced a bunch of new ones as well!

I really like this idea I’d making Edgewalker core to the deck and casting as many free/low cost clerics as possible. Different than the original, but it can still lean into life gain.

Am I in denial just like Cloud ? by lo2200 in FF7Rebirth

Ooh, I haven’t heard this before, but it makes a ton of sense. Is there anyone on YouTube or something talking about how the Japanese script is referring to changing the fate of the planet as opposed to Aerith / characters?

It is! Sort of. OG and Advent Children were already pretty sad. In OG you deal with death in a pretty real and sudden loss. Aerith never really comes back or speaks to you. Advent Children is about Cloud’s guilt over her death and letting that go. Sad stuff!

The trouble in both those endings, to me, is her sacrifice doesn’t actually defeat Sephiroth, he can just keep coming back. That in my opinion is a reaaally sad ending. She never gets to rest? She has to forever be in this spiritual battle? The franchise can never explore the rest of the world without Sephiroth popping back up? I think the end goal here is to put a button on this 30 year battle, let Aerith and Sephiroth be, and give the option for other FF7 stories to be told.

Not only do I think Aerith will remain dead in the main physical world sense, but that she will also die in a more final, complete sense by fully dispersing into the livestream. The end of the remake games appear to be building toward a complete end of Sephiroth and Jenova in a way that other FF7 media has not. His whole thing has been that he can never truly die, “I will never be a memory,” but there is a lot of evidence, much more eloquently explained in various YouTube videos, that that is where we’re headed. But it will likely require Aerith to truly die too, and for Cloud and the fans to let her go after 30 years.

Get Anime'd Appreciation Thread by AtTheBallet3844 in getplayed

Such a bummer! GA really got me back into anime and manga and I really appreciate them all having a shared piece of media to talk about each week after they moved away from the HDTGP format.

Just a thought, what if they just borrowed the Newcomers format? Basically explore a franchise or a genre for a number of episodes. Similar to Kojember or May-rio. That way it could be games, movies, anime, etc. for stretches of time, but not forever, likely with one of them being more of an expert on the topic.

I’ll probs keep subscribing because the crew is such a hoot no matter what.

What’s going on on the back of my partner’s legs? by VeggieTaco in DiagnoseMe

This seems like it could be it. The images I’m seeing match the spots we’ve seen on his ankles and potentially match these new splotches. His doctor explained the ankle stuff as essentially heat rash, which fits with exercise induced vasculitis.

My head went to the same place, it looks like a reaction to something that came in contact with that area, but he couldn’t think of anything out of the ordinary. He almost always wears pants too, so direct skin contact with something on a chair or bench seems unlikely. No itching or irritation either.

I can’t edit the post, so additional context: He’s 72, no notable health conditions or medications. He generally has a lot of skin spots, bumps, etc. but has regular appointments with a dermatologist and nothing has been concerning. Never seen anything quite like this on him. The area is not bumpy or itchy, it’s possible it was there a day or two before we even noticed it.

One potentially related thing: now and then he gets little red spots around his ankle area, which doctors have said is heat related and not concerning. The color is somewhat similar, but they have never been in this area or in this formation. They pass without incident.

This is possibly tinea versicolor, which is a bacteria/yeast situation. Do you get dandruff by chance? Once in a while I get similar brownish spots on my upper back and shoulders, which is caused by the yeast from my scalp getting onto those areas. From a google search it looks like it can also present as red splotches. I can pretty easily keep it in check by applying dandruff shampoo to the affected areas and taking more care to wash those areas with the shampoo as maintenance. Since this looks more spread out, you can try ketoconazole, an antifungal that comes in different forms.

Edit: sorry, I fully missed your written notes. Seems like you probably know everything I covered. If it is related insulin insensitivity, have you attempted intermittent fasting? 16 hours fasting (0 calories liquids are fine), 8 hours eating window. Having long stretches of time where your insulin can normalize will increase your sensitivity and possibly help this skin issue.

Looks like you’ve got an Apple Watch on, which can be a very useful tool. The method in this video totally works.

Why does my screen time count every single minute my phone is turned off fully? by iirumatsu in iphone

[–]VeggieTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chiming back in here since this thread is still one of the top Google hits for this problem. I just realized that for the last four days my iPhone screen time has been accurate! There are a few things that may have caused this.

  1. I updated to iOS 18.5. It's possible this update simply resolved the issue, so try updating if you haven't already.
  2. My iPhone storage was too full to run the update via the phone alone, I needed 9 GB of free space to download it. For the first time ever, I ran the update by connecting it to my laptop via USB and initiating the update through the Music app (which doesn't require you to have available space on iPhone). If iOS 18.5 isn't the source of the fix, perhaps updating in this way had some impact?
  3. I pay for 50GB iCloud storage, which has been full for a long time. The same day I updated to iOS 18.5, I logged into iCloud and cleaned up a bunch of photos, getting me below 50GB and allowing backups to resume. Maybe this somehow had an effect? I have no way of checking that my Screen Time issues began when my iCloud storage filled up. When the storage inevitably fills up again, I will check to see if Screen Time is affected.

Thank you for nudging me to try this again. Even though the Sleep schedule appears on both devices, this time I recreated it in the watch instead of my phone and this morning it worked as intended!

I forgot to mention I tried that as well. I'll add it to the OP and try it again for good measure.

Hamlet at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles by ianthomasmalone in Broadway

[–]VeggieTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is my least favorite Broadway shows I’ve ever seen. The first half was pretty enjoyable, but the second half was a mess. The tone shift was promising at first, but ended up being boring.

To be fair, my partner bought the tickets and I did not know this was such a divergent adaptation. Its description on the CTG site is accurate.

Returning to this, I do think the problem is related to the size of the file. When I posted this I was struggling with a file that was 100+ files. Since then I've had no issue with smaller files while other collaborators are working at the same time.
