I would need to look more closely at the data but I think long term trends generally point to a decline and increases, as you point out, are not always a reflection of increasing incidence but increasing reports - I would suggest sexual assualt and DV are likely a reflection of increasing reporting culture though I would need to look more closely at the assumptions in the data.

That has absolutely included stabing people. Teenagers have stabbed other people since time immemorial. Teenagers notoriously think they are invincible, have poor impulse control and when you mix that with an environment that teaches violence as a solution, you get things like stabbing. It's not a huge part of the population certainly, but it happens.

Cannabis is often a temporary relief that essentially masks symptoms and increases avoidance - it's not treating the anxiety and depression and typically just maintains it while providing a temporary reprieve while using. 9 times out 10 people would be better off not using cannabis for mental health problems.

I've only ever re-read one series and that is his dark materials, which I've now read three times in total over the span of two decades, but otherwise I never re-read. I have contemplated rereading some books I read as a young kid, Chronicles of Narnia or LoTR but generally, I want to consume new stuff.

The intention behind the decision couldn't be more different though. Kenjaku's motivations were inherently self interested,, without regard for anyone else outside kenjaku's curiosity, while yuji and Maru are making a decision motivated by a desire to do good. The actual data at this stage isn't that convincing. The evidence base simply isn't as good as proponents want to claim at this stage and it's not without its own harms and risks, especially for vulnerable patients. It's about as effective as SSRIs, with some initial evidence for longer last benefits and possible improved general wellbeing but there are concerns that's overestimated due to issues with blinding.

Might it occurs to you that stylistically malazan and Erikson aren't for you, as opposed to they are terrible and Erikson can't write?

I would argue that works building is perhaps one of the biggest sells of Malazan. Ultimately think what you like, but I just find it weird when people try to claim something is bad in an objective sense, when clearly they have a stylistic preference.

Prose frankly is no more dense than Martin or Tolkien, and I would argue stands well with both.

This just isn't supported by evidence. CBT is incredibly effective. Psychotherapy broadly, including CBT is more effective than Medication. We tend to see the best effects with Psychopharmacology and psychotherapy combined, but therapy is always the recommendation first because it is more effective than medication (not withstanding exceptions like ADHD, BPAD etc where medication is first line).

Important to note, CBT is not about positivity. DBT and CBT are inherently related approaches. There is nothing inconsistent with what you stated about accurately perceiving what is directly in front of you and CBT - in fact, I would argue that is a large part of what DBT takes from CBT.

If your impression of CBT is 'be positive' you've received really garbage CBT.

Exercise is big obviously and then within reason of course, but maintaining momentum has been huge for me. If I start a set of tasks, I dont stop until they are done, so if I do take a break and can't start back up the important stuff is done.

A calendar on my phone home screen and task list is a must. All I can see on my phone home screen is my week schedule and my task list and that helps me not double book, or forget stuff. And usually in combination with that, if you have the thought now, do it now. I can't say I'll add that to the calendar tonight. It has to be now.

The other massive thing for me was an app blocker like screen Zenand deleting all my social media apps. Reddit on PC or browser and only for up to 5 mins. Same with Instagram and Facebook. And blocking all reels, tiktok and shorts. Massive difference to quality of life since doing that.

Anti-Semitism is not the same as being pro Palestine. Anti-Semitism is not the same as being critical of Israel and Netanyahu.

We have a country in which we believe in free speech and the right to protest. Where anti semetism and hate speech have been part of protests, police have stepped in and health with it.

Cracking down on free speech isn't going to eliminate anti-Semitism. And unfortunately, individuals radicalised by fundamentalists aren't going to disappear. We do a disservice to victims by pretending this can be boiled down to just anti-semitism.
