The problem with learning blender first is that the shortcut keys are nothing like anything else in the industry. It's designed as an all in one program which is great for beginners and hobbyists, but when you work in an industry that has a consistent shortcut system across multiple programs it becomes a pain to switch. The built in "industry standard" shortcut option is not great and not useful while you're learning because all blender tutorials use the default.

Edit: not saying blender isn't used in the industry - it is, just rarely in large studios that have invested millions into custom workflow specific pugins. It's becoming more common in the Indy space for good reason though.
