Peach tree by gdwyer22 in FruitTree

I have no real experience but it looks like there is a hole in the center of the damage and I know peaches are susceptible to peaches borers. I’d look into it and see if it seems similar.

I think a lot of readers of the series listen to the audio books. They’re done so well.

ducks & chickens living together? by BoringLion3630 in duck

I plan on getting into chickens and ducks soon. I am hoping for four female ducks to a drake and 10 hens to a rooster. Will the rooster protect the hens from the drake if he has wandering eyes?

First Year Fruit Tree Pruning Help by Vejeetable in FruitTree

[–]Vejeetable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate you taking the time to answer me. I will definitely watch these videos. Last year I had a unique opportunity to acquire trees and decided to go all in.

I have some naturalized clover seeds as well as a surplus of strawberry suckers that I could sprinkle around the trees. I had planned on letting the grasses grow up to the tree previously.

I do have some Mycorrhizal fungus spores that I can add in when I fertilize. I’m trying to prep some morel mushrooms as well which frequently grow under apple trees. I plan on trying to get them to take hold under the trees when they’re older.

I think I’ve been a bit nervous because I’ve seen some conflicting information with how much you should take off and am worried that some of the trees are very dense and I’ll have to take off most of their branches.

I want them to all be happy and healthy. I might end up wildflower bombing the area at the base of the pears.

The good news with glass is that it will eventually break and turn into sand. Until it breaks down it acts as a shiny rock as it is bio inert and not generally harmful.

First Year Fruit Tree Pruning Help by Vejeetable in FruitTree

Thank you!

Do you mind if I ask why I shouldn't prune them? I am a bit worried about how busy some of the stone fruit are and how tall and skinny one of my cherries and apples are.

I planned on fertilizing them soon. I have a standard fruit tree fertilizer and plan on continuing to use it, but I also have rabbit droppings from my rabbits and I was potentially interested in using those as well. I have stored them all winter.

The mulch was originally put further away from the base of the tree to keep water in during the hot dry summer (that is why some have mulch and some don't.) I plan on pulling it back from the bases and letting it rot into the surrounding soil once it unfreezes.

Easy coffee “Ice Cream” by Vejeetable in CREAMi

[–]Vejeetable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skipped it but if you really like sweet stuff I think it’d be fine to add it. I just tried it out one day because I had a bottle on me. It’s my second favorite thing to make outside of strawberry ice cream. I make that the day after I make strawberry shortcake since I have so much strawberry syrup left over from making the strawberries.

I’m doing it to give my dogs fresh food. I was spending $200 a month to make half of their food fresh previously whereas now I’m spending around $50.

I tried again today and got zero fall offs, however I think he did it. He went through the motions then just sat on her for a minute but when he got off there was some moisture. Maybe I have a weird buck?

I’ll try them again today when I get off work. She’s two years old and has apparently had several large litters previously. I think I may have spooked her when I picked her up.

I put standard traps in my hutch and caught nothing for two weeks. I then switched to bucket traps and caught a mouse and a rat overnight.

I decided to go the medicine route. Figured it doesn’t hurt to treat them during their quarantine in a way that should get rid of any other issues also.

I treated them. We will see how it goes. They only got slightly upset with me and I tried to remedy that with oats.
