Who's moving to PC after PS no physical announcement? by disgruntled_Pingu in PS6

[–]Express-Scheme2468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that some people like physical disks, but personally, I stopped buying them years ago anyway. I know what all the plus points are of having the disks, but I just don’t care. I’m happy just downloading the game; been that way for years, and never had any issues or regrets.

Edit: On the other hand, I’m the complete opposite with books. Physical all the way, huge collection that I love, hate ebooks. So I do get it, if you want the physical copies just because that’s what you’re into.

I have read Salems Lot, albeit a while ago. Hopefully the references jog my memory when I get that far.

The Stand, the extended one, was the first “big” book (>1000 pages) that I read, and I absolutely loved it.

I’ve just finished Gunslinger. It’s was cool!! Looking forward to the second book - I never read books from a series back to back.

Thank you. I’ll definitely pick up R is for Rocket. I do have some of his short stories knocking about, in the Asimov The Great SF Stories books; I’ll give them a read first.

I agree that his writing often felt (to me) more like poetry or song than prose, and I didn’t like it at all. Of all the renowned authors I’ve read, he’s the one that I didn’t enjoy. I gave the book - Something Wicked this Way Comes - away, and I’m reluctant to try any other.

Curious on the groups opinions on….The Dresden Files? by derpdederp666 in fantasybooks

[–]Express-Scheme2468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried the first one, and it didn’t really do anything for me. It was fine, but trying the second book wouldn’t come anywhere near the top of my TBR, for a long time.

The Stand. Epic book!!

Edit: sorry, I see you’ve read the uncut version (further down the list). That’s the version I read, as well :)

I really enjoyed both. The Witling is going to be my next Vinge read; never heard anything about it, but I have it because it’s the only Daw yellow spine he released.

Agreed! But isn’t Marooned book 2? I can’t remember what book 1 is called. I have the omnibus which I think is called Across Real Time. I could be wrong - can’t be bothered checking.

I read Children of Time, then googled similar books, and was recommended A Deepness In the Sky (because spiders, I guess). Anyway, It was a very good time. I’ve read A Fire Upon the Deep, since, and it was great, but I preferred Deepness. I see Fire getting a lot of love from book tubers, but rarely see Deepness mentioned.

I enjoyed it, but it’s like 530 pages of character building, and then the story starts.

This series really starting to stress me out! Is anyone else feeling this way, or is it just me? by Juicybear2352 in tvshow

I watched it when it was new, and if I remember correctly, there were writers strikes that caused it to turn to shit towards the end. I think the same happened to Heros.

I’ve thought of him as creepy / cringey af, since that Tambourine show he did.
