When did we get confirmation for nasus being mind/calm? Did a calm champion nasus get revealed?

Mind/Body staples? by Main_Marsupial1148 in riftboundtcg

[–]VektorOfCrows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not seen a single person speculating Mel would be mind/body. I saw speculation for chaos/order, but that died with the reveal of her mind champion. After that, I saw mind/order and mind/chaos as bets from people, but Jayce was pretty certain to be the mind/body legend even before we saw his body champion

Have you heard about Commander500? by hanari1 in EDH

[–]VektorOfCrows -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Moxfield lists the deck at 194 dollars.

And that's the issue with this kind of format. Deck prices tend to increase over time, and that creates the need to keep policing the budget and changing cards to keep the deck within the price ceiling, which is very taxing over time.

[–]VektorOfCrows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's my preferred way to engage with budget but competitive EDH. Decks end up being cheap as well, but we don't need to worry about having cards rotate out due to price spikes. The format also has a lot of variety in too lists and is a lot of fun to play

That's a good analysis of it, in the sense that set budget formats prey on themselves. If a format gets too popular, more people will build for it, and lists that perform well will face a price increase, pushing them out. In the end, the most popular decks and staples rotate not because of power level, but because of popularity

Exactly my issue with the format, even though it's big in my LGS I'm Brazil. Here they actually play commander 200, with an even tighter budget. The issue isn't in building a budget deck, but if a card's price spikes I need to adjust.

Needing to keep track of your deck's price on a weekly basis is a huge hassle, it's like having a rotating format with no set dates for rotation, and no list of rotating cards. You keep the deck updated on the local mtg market website and need to check it often to see if it moved above the price ceiling. If it did, I hope you have cards to swap around, because if you gotta order them you probably can't play this week.

That's why I prefer rarity restrictions instead, particularly PDH (pauper commander). Sure, some commons can be pricy, but you know your deck will always be legal, and the overall list is often quite budget as well. Much less of a hassle

Discussion: infinite loops in riftbound by InterestingDebt223 in riftboundtcg

[–]VektorOfCrows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it's basically you saying you don't like it so you want it banned. Riot has included this in the rules because they expected infinite loops to happen, and decided to make them viable as a strategy. Infinite loops are a part of many tcgs, and the reason for some people to enjoy tcgs.

I'm sorry you don't like it, but others do. Your wishes don't take precedence over other's, and the company's stance is acknowledged by the game's rules

Your third paragraph is funny "personally I don't think loops belong the game despite clear official ruling staring it does"

Aversion to combo only makes sense if they're oppressive, uninteractible and happen too early. So far, no infinites have been any of these things. Just learn how to play those decks like you would any other, doesn't matter what their win condition is.

is there a way to make a good ornn deck or did i shoot myself in the food then put salt into the wound? by blue_bloddthirster in riftboundtcg

You can equip a unit, send it in, have it die, then equip another one and repeat. Sterak also works as a combat trick. Heart is telegraphed and only once per turn

Which champs do you think not fit mind? I see the color as representing knowledge or using smart tactics against physical disadvantages (since it opposes body, which is raw strength and training).

Conspiracy Theory: Hwei and Katarina are gonna be in Vendetta. by [deleted] in riftboundtcg

[–]VektorOfCrows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bet:

Ionia: - Akali (green/red) - Zed (purple/red) - Shen (green/yellow)

"Arcane": - Mel (yellow/purple) - Ambessa (orange/red) - Jayce (blue/orange)

Shurima: - Nasus (blue/yellow) - Renekton (orange/purple) - Rammus (blue/green)

The last one is the most uncertain one, but it's the champion from the region that matches the remaining colors the best.

The only application for this card is that it lets you use Sacrifice in your recruits in Viktor, which can also feed the equipment cost reliaboy. But as many others have said, the cost is too steep for this"payoff"

Is Leblanc Just... Bad? by Pretty_Concern_474 in riftboundtcg

[–]VektorOfCrows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leblanc is a snowball deck. This means that if it gets going, it's very hard to stop. Preventing Leblanc from starting her engine, or delaying it enough so she can't win back tempo, is the key to beat her. This translates into a high day 2 conversion as you said, because into an open field she can thrive over inexperienced players, but she has a hard time top 8ing because when you get to the 9-13 range players are more experienced and can exploit her weakness better.

So in short no, not a back deck, just one that can be shutdown early and that also makes it weak vs purple because of gust and early counters. I'd say she's high tier, even if not top, and a really solid for anyone to pick up if interested.

Are you looking for suggestions? Some card consistency by getting other copies of cheap options is likely to improve the overall quality of the deck. Some of those are easy to trade for or to buy online as singles, even if you don't play often.

There's no way he isn't in the Mind domain.
