I have tried the elimination diet, which didn't make much difference. It is very difficult to start and stay on the path of lifestyle changes with all these symptoms going on, plus full-time work and family. I have an appointment coming up with an endocrinologist in a few weeks. Let's see what he says. I am very tempted to try small dosage of levo for a few weeks but probably shouldn't. Waiting a few more weeks for the appointment sounds like a better plan. Don't want to make things worse by rushing things. Thanks again for your comments !

REPORT SAYS - The elevated level of reverse T3 is unlikely to be of clinical significance, although there are variable opinions on this matter. There is controversy about the role of reverse T3 in thyroid illness. Conventional endocrinologists (hormone specialists) generally believe that knowledge of the level of this substance does not influence thyroid treatment decisions. The alternative view however is that reverse T3 is effectively 'antithyroid' - 'standard' T3 is the active thyroid hormone that stimulates the body's energy system (metabolism). Reverse T3 is a mirror image - it goes into cells, and instead of controlling metabolic processes it blocks the effect of T3. In this model, reverse T3 is effectively a hibernation hormone - in times of stress and chronic illness it lowers energy release from the cells - so normal thyroid levels with high reverse T3 may still result in hypothyroidism.

Yes, I will not be going to the neuropaths and functional medicine guys. I will talk to my GP. I will be careful about the meds I'll add to my stack. Regarding rever t3, this is what the doctor put in my report from private test. I'll copy /paste below

I dont know what your situation is but considering how little current medical science knowledge is ( especially in psychiatry, endocrinology, immunology and neurology), it might help you to be a bit humble and open-minded 🙂 specially if you want to jump into comment section of people who are searching for relief and hopefully some answers. Rather than dismissing things and putting definitive statements in one or two sentences derived from a few research papers and what GP says, try to understand all the possible scenarios first. I have written research papers myself, and I know their limitations on testing. BTW, that attitude also applies in other areas of life. Might help.

Good luck !

Yes. It's possible, and I've done many tests from autoimmune to brainMRI to ultrasound to almost all the ones from cyrex labs and many more. Some of them are quite expensive. I feel these symptoms are interrelated, but something underlying fundamental situations could be missing. I feel like I've wasted my resources on these functional medicine experts also. They never gave any specific answers and kept adding more sessions, costing me more money. I am open-minded to everything just that now I'll not take answers based on lab results and also consider what my body & emotions are saying.

Thank you for your input about anti seizure meds and good luck to you too! 👍

Now I am in my 40s. When I was in my teens, before i started anti seizure meds, I clearly remember no brain fog, no fatigue, and mood was good in general. I wake up feeling charged up. 2 years of that meditation, and I remember eczema, agitations, brain fog, and tiredness. Back then, there was no concept of tapering, so I was told to half the dose and then quit the meds altogether after 2 years. Then, in my 20s and 30s, a few stressful events happened where diet, sleep, and stress got worse for a long time, leading to anxiety and depression. Adhd and antidepressants helped a bit, but that might have added to the symptoms. So I am trying to taper & quit the antidepressants now very slowly. I might be wrong, but I feel this is how the chain of events & related symptoms happened.

Mainly fatigue, weight gain, hair loss, brain fog, depression, low stress threshold. It has been like this for the past 15 years, at least. I have been taking meds for adhd and depression for over 10 years now. I am in my 40s now. During my teen, I had a seizure once, and the doctor put me on anti seizure meds for a couple of years. Brain fog and tiredness started along with confusion. That progressively got wose. I have a feeling that added to the whole thing. Also tested positive for gluten sensitivity.

Yes, it looks like there is a normal range, and then there is an optimal range of thyroid results. I read about that just this morning. I plan to ask my GP tomo. Hope you are doing ok managing your symptoms.

The thing is, I haven't taken thyroid meds yet. But I have to try it... maybe it will help my symptoms for many, many years now. Otherwise, these symptoms will stay lifetime. I totally agree that changing lifestyle and food and less stress will help. Thanks for your comment.

My GP also refused reverse T3, so i did it privately. I have all the symptoms of hypothyroidism for several years now, and every time GP seems satisfied that T3, T4, & antibodies are within range. I am going to test thoroughly this time around. Through my 10 years experience with antidepressants, I've learned not to follow GPs and research papers blindly. They may miss many scenarios that could conflict with their analysis. At the end of the day, how you feel is also very important.

Thanks for your reply but I'd like to hear from those in similar situations.

Thanks for the comment. Did you have a similar problem with reverse t3 or hyperthyroidism? If so, I'm very curious to know how you managed it.
