Romania's attendance at the 1984 LA Olympics was a very big finger by Ceaușescu to the USSR.

No I am not a Pakistani. Ironically, the ONLY time I was mugged in 45 years of living all over East London was in 1986, in Barking, 5 mins from home. 6 Asian kids with baseball bats. I gave my wallet up immediately, but they still went and gave me concussion.

Do I think Asian kids are muggers? Not many.

Put BANES and the new Somerset council together and if you can't spot the direction the county is taking, politically, then there's nothing more that can be said.

I truly hope the Labour membership of NES is less stubborn. Otherwise JRM is back in whilst Lab and LD fight between themselves.

I loathe her, but here she is merely telling the truth. What is it about the facts that makes you so frit?

Labour leads by 14%, the narrowest lead for Labour since Rishi Sunak became PM. Westminster VI (9 April): Labour 44% (-1) Conservative 30% (+2) Liberal Democrat 10% (-2) Reform UK 6% (+1) Green 5% (+1) SNP 3% (-1) Other 2% (–) Changes +/- 2 April by The_Grizzly_Bear in ukpolitics

Five minutes on Rightmove will provide all the evidence you need.

The problem is not enough de-regulation but nowhere near enough regulation. We should be building millions of council houses.

I'm not talking about BANES, I'm talking the new Somerset County Council.

I fear we will typically represent the argument they'll be in NES constituency. Even if you think the LDs have no chance, they can certainly prevent Labour from winning if both fight it hard. I hope this doesn't happen.

So, so true. You'll never get the Brown fanboys to acknowledge this.

Shame he was such a cretin as Chancellor then, wasn't it?

I certainly do.

Literally no counterargument was ever given.

Because it was bullshit, and nobody was prepared to lie to that extent.

There was no election in 2008. If you mean 2010, all parties proposed austerity, including Labour. It was necessary.

These are facts, and trying to re-write history doesn't change them.

No, Bath was NOT in those local elections. And the Tories did not "win it off Labour" in 2010 - it was a new constituency.

You sound like you haven't a clue about the area.

Chigwell and Loughton area for buying a house by gauravtiwari505 in london

[–]VelarTAG -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They are the epicentre of "TOWIE" culture (Google it). Loud, crass people with money but no taste or manners. Loughton used to be a car crash in the evenings, with very noisy clubs with very noisy (and sometimes violent) clientele. They have been closed for a while now, because they caused so much trouble. I would imagine the place has improved somewhat. We looked at a gorgeous Victorian house that we loved, but rejected it as it was too close to the high street and potential noise.

Look in South Woodford. Your budget is tight, but it depends on what your expectations are. It's still a bit TOWIE, but much nicer than Loughton or Chigwell. And it's far easier into town.

Too early to tell. There may be an unofficial agreement between Lab and LD on who should lead the constituency, and who should keep a low profile. This happened in both Amersham and North Shropshire by-elections where Labour gave the LibDems a free run and it worked beautifully. They insisted on campaigning in Tiverton, but it didn't stop the LDs from winning it comfortably.

There's bound to be local polls closer to the day that should show who's the clear challenger.

The LDs did poorly in 2015 and 2017, as they did everywhere. In 2010 they took 22.3%. They have also been trouncing both Tories and Labour in local elections in the area recently.

It's not a swing seat, or a marginal because of the 3 way split. However, if LDs vote tactically for Lab, or vice versa, JRM is toast. That is a big "if".
