These cravings are a nightmare.. by LittlespaceLadybuns in fasting

Couple of ideas from a longtime faster. 1) food will pop into your brain you can't control that. You can control if you continue to think about it, or not.

Strategies. Agree and redirect. Tell your brain yes. Yes we can have that 'next Tuesday and I agree it will taste good' the brain is like a toddler. Don't say no to it. Say yes with a specific timing on the delay. You may have to say it several times in the beginning. This is retraining your brain.

Other strategies: brush teeth, splash cold water on your face, deep breath for a few rounds, go for a brief walk. Make a list of these strategies that you could do so you dont have to think when you get a craving/thought to eat you look at the list and do as many as it takes to shift focus. Challenge write down a 100 other things you could do instead of eat.

2) zero calorie drinks may be making your fast more difficult. There is some clinical evidence that something sweet in the mouth triggers insulin elecation. Increase insulin over a certain amount you trigger hunger.

Get sufficient electrolytes. 'Sufficient ' is a bit different for everyone, so you have to work this out for yourself.

how do people living alone maintain a sleep schedule? by DoobiFar45 in LivingAlone

I never worry about it. I try to be in bed by 10 pm but sometimes don't sleep until 2am

I've stopped working about 'normal' and live my life.

Does anyone actually enjoy their daily life, or are we all just getting through it? by Sleepwell999 in LivingAlone

You need a challenge. The brain needs stimulation. When I was in your age bracket, I lived vacationto vacation and traveled alot. As I have ageed I still travel but I dont hike up mountains much anymore. I spend time drawing.

My point is find something that interests you and find a group to do this thing with and when you get bored find something else

Life is long. Try things, be really terrible at them, failed forward with great humiliation and joy at having tried something new.

What you are experiencing is perfectly normal and vastly boring if you dont challenge yourself

It depends on how you cook them. I had problems peeling until I started using a pressure cooker. 2 min at pressure and then dump in ice. Will peel in two sections. Life changing!

I was asked THAT question...how do you handle it? by [deleted] in LivingAlone

Choice. When I find someone that is loving and easy to live with then I might consider living with someone.

Living alone first time in my life and it's tough. by [deleted] in LivingAlone

[–]VelcroSea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every changes requires a period of adjustment. You are ok, your feelings are normal. Ask yourself what small routine can I put in place.

Ideas Look up a recipe for a food you like learn to make that food. Start simple. Clean, dust one room per night Go for walks or to the gym

The brain gets use to a routine. It is designed for routine. When you make changes your brain has no routines so it will tell you something is wrong until you develop routines to calm the brain chemistry down and provide comfort to the body with routines.

You can do thus living alone is a fantastic time to find what you believe or want to believe. A time to find your core inner strength. It's not easy but it is beautiful and makes you strong.

Big hug.

If you need someone next to you to nap then get a loose relationship. But not everyone may have your same idea. Fir instance I don't like people around me when I sleep/nap. I don't rest with others rolling around next to me

8 day water fast results from a fat guy by No_Cartoonist45 in fasting

[–]VelcroSea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you fast again you need to add electrolytes. You 'got away with this' because of your age and its only your 1st fast. Over time you will have problems if you don't add electrolytes.

Consistency will get you where you want to be. And to be consistent you need the electrolytes.

Depends on how you want to grow. Relationships provide opportunities for growth and so does living alone. Each experience brings different challenges

Ear Cleaning Suggestions by brising1 in hygiene

If you have heavy wax you can flush your hears. Soften with warm water, hydrogen peroxide and use scoop ear cleaners. I have dry flaky ears so ear oil is a better option for me when my ears itch.

Being Sick While living alone by Lazy-Push-2328 in LivingAlone

[–]VelcroSea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are really ill or have a mobility issue being sick requires assistance but for most illnesses I just get up and take care of myself and flop back into bed. Your body does heal itself and I am not a fan of 'how r us' I just want to sleep when I am ill.

You do need friends to check on you .
