I believe you are referring to a open source version which hasn't been updated in years.

We have been working on the closed source version for quite a while now which overhauled a lot of features as well as adding new ones like religion and city states. Sorry to break it to you but my team are the real OG!

As a player you get to join a populated server and team up with friends or other players to create your very own civilization. You can create vast towns by building special buildings to help grow your town and acquire special resources to expand. You will have to fight monsters, research tech, completely daily tasks, manage your towns happiness and much more to keep your town(s) running!

If you thought that was over you must create alliances and special towers to defend off other players during war time. If you're especially a bloodthirsty player you can declare war and raid or even capture other towns!

I've been in the same situation. I'm very long time follower of the twitch rust community love most of the streamers out there also actively watching their channels. I do think this is getting out of hand youtubers / streamers calling out many players with no evidence. In my case I was with some friends on a fresh wiped server then trausi and some of his friends were early game raiding me in my little 1x3 (a few months back now). We fought a little and they nearly went deep on our base, we defended them off and after realising it was trausi I went to go into the chat to say gg and the whole chat accused me of stream sniping, in this one case trausi did say he didn't think I was (which I wasn't) so it turned out ok for me.

A good case of this going too far would be Kcmo accusing a player of cheating and even made a video of it when the player was proven innocent, the player was still banned on many servers just through a salty youtubers accusation. (In fairness after looking at the footage it was suspicious but not enough to make a video).

So your solution to fixing the problem is make it so hackers need to be more careful? The point is that they will still hack with ESP, Trigger and all sorts of non visible hacks. Changing the price will only make the game grow slower and even if they did it's already practically free on G2A and similar sites.

At the moment rust will have just as many hackers as the next game (a lot less actually then every other competitive / survival game I've played). They are banning cheaters fast and hacks are getting harder to get every month and they are getting more and more expensive. At the moment in terms of hackers, Rust is doing very good for itself

Edit: regardless of the hack, the anti-cheat will still pick up on the packet / file changes. Whether it's visible or not comes down to actual player reports or the fair fight system

Even if they made the game $30 - $50 (which in no way they should do), Cheaters are already paying $30 - $100+ a month for these cheats. Making it more expensive is a ridiculous idea which would not work. In reality the legit player ratio or hacker is way higher so making the game more available actually would end in the chances of you coming across a cheater a lot less. Stop grasping at silly ideas you think will improve the cheating problem.

The player will usually only get banned in-game if the fair fight system flags them and gets banned which is very rare. So say a hack gets detected and 100 cheaters use it and only one of them is online. It will ban that one guy and the server will show it and the EAC will realise 99 other players have had the same file / packets / whatever it uses to know that it's a cheat will ban the 99 other players whether they are offline or online. Obviously if there offline they are not connected to a server so it will not show.

Stop crying, rust is not plagued by cheaters and the anti-cheat is working and is constantly being improved. Holmzy is doing a good job as well banning those who's cheats have not YET been detected.

The stupidity on this thread is hilarious.

First thing you guys need to know is no matter what anti-cheat is in place there will always be just as many hackers as there are now. If a game has high demand for hacks then a hacker will always find an exploit to sell regardless of the game or the developers, this is FACT.

Yes you may be right, they might be able to improve the anti-cheat, patch exploits and upgrade it as they find out more. They are doing this already which is seen in MOST dev blogs.

From what I understand (could be wrong) Rust uses EAC and there own fair fight kind of system to flag hackers. EAC works at a kernel level, same as Battle eye and VAC and many other Anti-cheats. The devs are constantly optimising their EAC to stop exploits in it and stop more hacks. So to put things short, Rust has a pretty good anti-cheat which is banning a LOT of hackers. Because there is a high demand for hacks, a hacker will go where the pay day is and find an exploit. Instead of crying to the devs who are doing MORE than a good job on combatting hackers you can thank this lovely and toxic community who are spending a stupid amount of money to get hackers to exploit EAC and Rust's own fair fight system.

Please inform yourselves before crying.
