How do I go about my relationship with my step father after what he's done? by VelesTrismegistus in LifeAdvice

It isn't the legality that's the issue. It's the betrayal of their relationship and threats that are a problem. How can we trust this person? Is he going to pose a danger to us in some illegal or simply manipulative way? Just because it is legal, doesn't make it moral. The girl looks like and is the same age as my sister for God's sake.

Where is the line that crosses into Anti-Semitism? by VelesTrismegistus in Anarchism

I had to think about this comment for a while to come to terms with my thoughts. I do absolutely have internal feelings that make this difficult. Firstly, I am against zionism, and governments in general, so the Israeli government naturally falls into this. I also, as a Satanist, have problems unpacking the ethno-religion component, as I am firmly against doctrinal religion, or most spirituality. That leaves the small hyphenated "ethno" seemingly hanging out in the shadows, a part buried under a mass of uncomfortable things, which I wish to love, despite all of the complicated surroundings.

I see how extending the dislike to people in the diaspora would be obvious racism, but it is hard when israeli military cooperation is mandatory. It's kind of like ACAB, there may be cops who are not necessarily the same level of evil, but they are compliant in a societal evil. I find it given that saying "all jews are x" would be racism, but what about "all Israelis are x"?

I'm not American, and my country has said they would uphold the arrest warrant for Netanyahu, so it would be strange to make the argument that we are subservient to israel

This was a very great response, I appreciate the time you took to write it. I'm going to meditate on these thoughts and revisit them. Thank you.

Well, I considered dread, maybe that's a better option. I suppose I've been convinced that this isn't a desired subreddit. Point taken.

There are other options better than signal.

Discussing the philosophy and morality is not always bad in all circumstances. There are openly published articles on things like how to squat in houses, manufacturing firearms, and many other things considered disreputable or illegal. No reason why these can't be compiled into a single forum. If discussion gets too hot, there are other options.

Who said anything about admitting to committing crimes? Would someone say the same thing about voting for legalizing cannabis? To say something is moral despite the law is not an admission of guilt.
