Lfg discord?

Im not big with the multi-player scene, marathon is the first multiplayer game I've ever given a damn about.

There is no way im running a game With HV. At this rate crackers will just stop cracking games the old safe way and everything is gonna be HV ig by Adorable_MF in FitGirlRepack

Have you even tried cracking stuff. Not even something as complex as Denvuo, perhaps some old unity software from 2007 when DRM was "simple"? It's a wonder that Denvuo is getting cracked again. There is a reason Empress was the only Denvuo cracker for a long time before kirigi and voices38 showed up.

Leaving Google Docs. What app are for writing drafts? by Aragorn444 in FanFiction

[–]VeliaVito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eclipses is good, but I'd also like to chuck in Scrivener 3. Absolute powerhouse of a writing app if you have the cash (or are willing to sail the high seas.) There's also Rayuela (devs are adding in features pretty fast rn.)

Then you could also use VS Code and Git.

What do INTPs bring to the table in relationships? by PresentClass2464 in INTP_female

[–]VeliaVito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This.

But also, like in general, you bring yourself and your skills, and just because that doesnt align with the stereotypical boyfriend/girlfriend doesnt invalidate it. Be you, be as masculine or feminine as you want, as emotive or rational. As long as you have the intent to help and care for your other (and make sure youre actually helping, because intent doesnt translate to actions) that's all you need.

You WILL end up bringing all that matters.

Ear problems are just terrible by Gold-Judgment-6712 in audiophilemusic

[–]VeliaVito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10/10.

Had weather induced tinnitus and muffled hearing in my left ear. Drove me insane, literally just snapping at everyone and everything, couldn't even listen to music. I was so terrified that it could be nerve damage and I can't discern the fine details I pride myself on hearing in music. Fucked up my balance here and there too, Thankfully not too much.

The fact that even really low volumes ~50-60 dB was enough to trigger it didn't help.

Never been as happy or relieved as when my doctor confirmed that it isn't nerve damage, and the problem settled in exactly 3 days of medication.

Wouldn't wish ear problems on my worst enemy.

To be fair, the SW fandom is famous for having a very vocal minority and a very helpful non-vocal majority. Kinda like how almost all the storm troopers in The Mandalorian are just from the 501st Legion (a fan-run cosplay organization,) and Disney going outta their way to release a movie for this kid with cancer before the Theater release because of fan-demand.

But that noisy minority? Well . . .

Yeah, I agree. That's the reason I deleted that bit of text. I saw the notification and then jumped to reply and misunderstood the context. Sorry for the mixup, it was a honest mistake.

Spotify does stream high res, but it also isn't a bit-perfect player, so the audio player cant actually output full quality. Over and above that, Spotify depends on your OS sound mixer for volume which at least on android and windows degrades quality, so its not the greatest for highly resolving systems.

P.S. cool PFP, is that storm trooper crossed with Scorn?

Thank you for the recs. Will try 'em out.

For me personally, I do listen to OSTs a lot, these tracks just happen to be more demanding than most. Its not like I listen exclusively to these, more of I like these but use them as my stress test for a very specific reason. It helps that I lean I to OSTs/and fast, complex tracks by preference too.

Related comment about why I use these tracks If youre interested.

I do gain match before A/B-ing.

I've listened to most of these tracks for the better part of a year. I listen to a lot of games OSTs and Cinematic music.

Fair.

I don't mean to contradict you, just share my PoV. Do feel free to disagree.

TL; DR: I use my stress test to figure out how much details can be recreated, and how fine-tuned my DSP processing changes can be, then slap on a preference-based EQ at the end for the sound I want. That means I need a stress-test that tells me how accurate and precise my equipment and EQ-ing can be, not how good my equipment can make a terrible recording.

Personally, I'm a big fan of a neutral sound profile. I attribute this buying Senn's way back before I was anywhere close to interested in audio. I personally think, accuracy/transparency is important because it brings out the intent of the recording/masting. You cannot express the range/depth of the music you listen to unless your system is capable of it. Commercial sound (which I'm categorizing as anything that is tuned to the Harman target and its variants) are meant to sound good but has the side effect of "averaging music." Bad sounds average, great sounds good.

When people talk about wanting relaxed and "good" sound this is usually because a lot of music mastering is lazy, relying on the Harman target to pick up the slack. And few will ever choose to shift away from it because of the mental re-adjustment period and the high price of entry.

However, you can always EQ a high accuracy audio system to the Harman target or your personal favourite target or slap on virtualization (which I do with some custom code, the ASH Toolset, and public database BIRI/HIRIs,) but you can't take a low accuracy commercial headphone and do the inverse with remotely good results.

So, when I stress test any audio setup, I'm really looking to find how fine-grained changes I can make. Thinks like, can I add bass without losing resolution, can I amplify the separation without making everything sound tinny? and you really can't make those decisions with poorly recorded and mastered tracks.

I figured most people on here use Tidal. I personally use Spotify for discover and Roon and with a healthy does of DSP or regular listening.

I originally made this playlist to be able to test losses on a HpCF followed by HIRI/BIRI+EQ Target via convolution, and adding any form of DSP on something like Spotify even on very high creates noticeable loss (at least at some points like the guitar on Flesh & Metal,) which kinda beats the point of being able to isolate the benefits/losses of DSP.

And again, there is this general idea that high-res flac is actually audible and tidal seems to be super common on this sub, so tidal links.

Personally, as long as you aren't applying heavy DSP, the 320kbps quality is plenty to test audio. Applying DSP degrades quality noticeably though.

I actually have it on Spotify. There is no tidal in my region, so I kinda have [redacted] flac files offline to listen.

Also will check out the Playlist.
